Cant sleep. Worrying.

Hey i just got my dragon and hes a juvenile. I have him in a 29gallon tall enclosure. plenty of space. And i am running a repti glo 10.0 for uvb and i have a 50 watt basking light. He can get well within range too bask comfortably. only thing is...it gets cold in his tank at night. about 60degrees F so i purchased a UTH for a 30-40 gallon and placed it on the side of the tank to try and raise the ambient temp. he is eating normal and eats his greens throughout the day. i think im just being over cautious. never had a reptile before. first one so im still getting used to reactions and things he does. he is pooping regularly and seems too look normal. any way if any one is out there post a reply for me so i can fix things if need be. thanks again everyone out there!!!

I'm not an owner (yet), but from everything I've read, it sounds like your tank may be a little too cold at night. I found this article, which seems to indicate that 70-75 at night would be best for your critter:

also get rid of repti glo, reoti glo causes eye problems leading to vet bills. get repti sun 10.0

I agree, ditch the repti glo. Get the reptisun 10.0 tube. Ceramic heat emitter at night is better than a UTH because beardies can be burned by UTH's (they don't sense heat from below).

i disagree about the red bulb. any light can affect your beardies sleep, stick with the CHE and youll have no reason for worry

Just reading this and thinking that all of these acronyms must drive newbies crazy trying to keep up. It would be nice if some one posted and locked a newbie post of acronyms. lol Anyway if you use a CHE(Ceramic Heat Emmiter) you may have to thermostat it. Agree w/ the reptisun over glo, not too sure of red lights though if you must use a lamp use black.

Go with a che as you dont want a moody pooper.Or like gofast said megarays new heat projector it looks like a nice piece of kit.Nice find gofast would think they work really well with their eb kits.

I bought a start up tank kit and it had a black light. It was not hot enough and I use infrared red light. As far as I have come to understand they cannot see that spectrum of light therefore it would not bother their sleep...my Sierra don't seem to mind

Thats crazzy.... I am upgrading tanks soon and I was kinda looking in the the CHE....they are commonly used I see...any companies to stay away from?? The store I go to typically carries exo terra stuff

exo terra should be fine for a CHE. I usually prefer zoomed, but that's just personal preference I think. http://www.petmountain.com has amazing prices, so you may want to compare.

random, but I have to disagree about the red light keeping them awake. I use them, and Pablo sleeps peacefully all night. Maybe its bc he always snuggles up in his blanket so usually his eyes aren't exposed?
