Can 2 dragons hang out together?

Hi! I'm new here and hope I'm posting in the right place. I searched the archives for info about my question and came up empty handed. So here goes...

We have a 6 mo old male beardie that we adore. We're so smitten with him that we're thinking about getting another dragon. Not as a companion for him (we did our research before purchasing him, and know that they are solitary animals), but as another companion for us. If we got a 2nd dragon, we would keep both lizards in their own 100% separate enclosures NOT house them together. But I'm wondering if we could hold them together?

Our lizard gets a lot of handling. He rides around on our shoulders all the time, sits in our laps while we're watching TV, goes on walks in our yard on his leash... you get the idea. If we got a 2nd lizard, could they interact together? For example, could they both sit on my lap together? Or would that be a recipe for disaster and they would have to be taken out of their tanks and cuddled at different times?

If 2 lizards CAN hang out together, what sex pairing would be best? Our lizard is male. Would he fight with another male, or would they be okay? Or if we got a female for our 2nd dragon, would he be trying to breed her every time they were anywhere near one another (we don't want to breed them) or would they be chill together? What if we had her spayed- then would he leave her alone?

It just depends, some dragons will never get along. I have a pic of me holding 4 of my 5 dragons, they were only being held for the time I took the pictures, but within seconds afterwards I was warding off fights, as males will always try to fight each other. I've had two out together, but with me on the floor watching every second. If it's a male & female, the male will spend all his time trying to mate & if he gets on her, mating takes like 1 second, literally. So if you decided to have them out together, you really have to watch them every second to avoid anything.

I've been raising dragons for 6 years, so wouldn't recommend this for a 1st timer. Just watch them every second!

You're right- they are totally like potato chips! :lol: We've only had him for about 4 months and i already want another one!

I'm an experienced herp person. Over the last 30 years I've had a bunch of different kinds of snakes, several species of tree frogs, a monitor lizard, and a couple of iguanas. This is my first beardie though and we are absolutely crazy about him. He has more personality then our dog (and doesn't shed or drool on the couch- LOL)!

Males are hard. I have females who can all hang out together. My males can't ever be around each other outside of the cages or they will fight. Your best bet would be to get a female, but you need to watch them if they are out together. My females are out all the time together with no issues. But male and male, I wouldn't trust, so female is your best bet.
