Cal's strange genetics

Our young beardie Calcifer is an orange dunner. We are weirded out by his beard; more specifically the skin under his beard, which is pitch black. He has had it all his life with us no matter the mood :dontknow: we just always chalked it up to genetics. Has anyone else seen this?

lol thats pretty cool. I know our last one, Mushu, did not have a beard like that. Then again, maybe he's the weird one...

Suki's beard was like that too, with an orange beard which gave it a very 'halloween' effect.

I know exactly what you mean lol. My girly's beard is pure orange too

Reptar's beard is like that too. I just assumed all bearded dragons' beards were that way.

Basil's beard is just like that too!

I think it's normal, and is where they keep the black pigment!
