Calcium Sand?

So the guy at the pet shop said that the calcium sand would be good for a baby bearded dragon? I am thinking I made a bad choice by not getting turf?? The sand is very fine.

The calcium sand is not the best choice for sand, it's actually toxic if the dust is inhaled in large amounts. If you want to use sand as a substrate I recommend washed play sand(50 lb bag for about $3 at Wal-Mart). Unless you can spend alot of time watching him/her I would also recommend waiting until it's about 6 months old before putting on sand. Babies especially tend to eat everything including the sand and can get a serious impaction if too much is eaten.

The risk with calcium sand isn't impaction, but that the calcium sand creates a highly toxic dust that causes severe respiratory infections. Being that it is made from calcium they digest it without any problems.

I wouldent use sand you risk impaction i use paper towels it easy to clean the cage its also cheaper

dont use calcium sand, if you want sand then either play sand or desert sand is a better option but not until 6 months old.

Alot of people dont like sand, however also alot of people do use it with no problems including myself.
