Got first time order of butterworms from the bait shop in Indiana. My 5 mos old will take a few, but not as eager as phoenix and silkies. I've been alternating worms with crickets. Hoped the butters would be a hit, cuz they take no maintenance and keep a long time. Anyone else have experience with them? They are also bigger than phoenix which gives you more meals.

Hmm.. I have 25 of them on their way, to arrive Wednesday. I hope they go over well. I love phoenix worms, but as she grows, I'm afraid I can't afford to feed the number she really wants! Butters seem like a good alternative to PWs (or at least a really good addition.. she really loves her PWs.. I don't know if I can really take them away).

Well, I guess I don't have a real answer to your question, but thank you for sharing your experience with them!

You know I feel exactly the same. Love phoenix, but they are small and gobbled up quickly. Hoped butter would be a bigger hit...............and she does eat them, as I said, but only a few at a time. However, they are bigger than phoenix. She likes silkies, but they are $$$, and I prefer the ones in the pod with food inside the shipping cup for my own ease.
As of today maybe I'll just keep alternating. Thanks for response - let me know how it goes.

My beardies looove butter worms. But I too alternate my live feeders they get a variety of them.
Variety is the spice of life an assures they get a good balanced diet.
Roaches
Supers (For the larger beardies)
Silkies
Phoenix worms
Horned worms
Wax worms (Occasionally with females that have laid eggs)

I like the butters because they keep well an I only have to order them once in awhile.

They was my main staple before my dragon was old enough for supers.

My beardie was spooked of crickets.

My beardie likes Dubias(a friend ocasionally gives me some when they are breeding too fast for his dragons to keep up) but I don't know that it would be worth doing a colony for 1 dragon, maybe if I had several.

All and all butters were good. Easy to keep alive, no upkeep. soft bodied. only down side was price.

Hi - just fed my last butter and thought I'd order more. BUT, they are out till the first of January. Owner says they are just starting to harvest them...........he has a big order waiting fom Chile. Since the holidays are coming thought I should store up cuz of shipping delays ets. Anyhow here is the website:
beaverbait.com It's a bait store in Indiana..............look over their order sheet, it's kinda funny. I enjoyed seeing the waxworms in COLORS and with an anise flavor - HA! who does that kind of research.
My order for butters was 50 for $12 (no extra shipping). Will order more next time since they last soooooo
long in the frig - no food - no smell. Bigger than phoenix - but not too big. My Sandy would eat about 5 and be full (till the next meal).

so - now I ordered phoenix from the silkworm shop in san diego to alternate w/crickets till butters come in.

Calypso loves butterworms. Problem was I could only get them once in awhile and the last two cups were moldy. Bummer!

I hope to start ordering different feeders online now that Calypso is big enough to eat something other than those phoenix worms. ;)

The good thing with Beaver Bait is that he gets them directly from Chile and ships quickly. My Sandy is only 5 months old so I won't feed her wax, super, etc. yet.

Quick shipping is always a good thing. :) I don't know where my local petshop (which is closing soon) were getting them. I just know she only ordered the butters when she ordered more fish.
I have fed Calypso a few waxworms, but since they are to only be used as treats I wouldn't want to buy many of them at once. She liked the waxworms too, LOL

She is the total opposite of my other dragon, for sure.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
