Bulge at the Base of Tail

My beardie, Wilson, has been very lethargic today unlike yesterday when he was jumping around. He also hasn't eaten since Saturday. When picking him up, he opened his eyes and that's it which is not like him. He usually gets excited when he gets out of his cage. I examined him to see to see if there was anything wrong and I noticed he had a huge bulge at the base of his tail. I have no idea what's wrong with him.

Do you have any pictures of him that we could see?
Please review your tank setup with us, such as the type/brand of UVB, supplementation type & frequency, along with temperatures & foods given.
It could either be an injury or metabolic bone disease developing on him.

Hi there, sorry your little guy is having trouble. I saw your other posts with pics of cute little Wilson and your set up. A couple things come to mind....when he was on calcium sand [ it's good that you got rid of it ] he might have eaten some + developed a blockage . When they can't poo it sometimes causes pressure on the spine at the base of the tail and forms a lump. The lump may or may not go away after he poos. It can also be a fracture from having soft bones along with impaction. Impaction can also be caused if the bugs he was eating are too big. can you post pics of Wilson as well as the lights you're using and the size of the crickets compared to a dime ?

Has he poo'd lately ? Try to think of the last time he did. Try to get some baby food squash + green beans in him along with a drop of veg. oil. If he doesn't poo soon or his condition doesn't improve try to find an experienced reptile vet. Only a vet that has experience with bearded dragons, that's important. If he won't eat see if the vet will give you some Oxbow critical care formula.Take Wilson out in the sun if you can, but just set him on your lap, being sure he can't jump/fall off , or just set him in the grass. The sun can help strengthen his bones.
