Laurmann2000, yes they already seem to be settled in quite comfortably. i must say, these are some hearty dragons. i know it is sometimes hard to get bearded dragons accustomed to a new home. i am just so glad these guys have had no problems with the changes:

fed individually in a tub

different hot spot(on one side now)

additional lights(RS 10.0 and an extra flo. for brightness)

longer photoperiod(about 12 hours)

somewhat noisier nights(they live in my room)

completely different decor(took out their only log and replaced it with two X-Large HabbaHuts, a stone slab on the cool side and a stone cave/basking spot)

completely different substrate(from sand to stone tile and outdoor carpet)

and i handle them infinitely more than when they were at the store

like i said, im just happy that they are happy :D .

sara, i agree, the difference is already noticable. they seem more active and appear more healthy. the background came with the display tank. they sell it by the foot at most petstores in my area. im glad you like it, i hope they do as much as everyone here  . thank you, and tell your son LG and I said hello  , i hope you enjoy these new pics.

mummybear, twice a day i inspect and clean out their cage. they get fresh mixed greens and crickets everyday and i try to give them baths a few times a week. id say they have it pretty good compared to their prior living conditions:

poop cleaned out almost never

lettuceonce or twice a week

basking spot in the center of the tank

no UV

photoperiod of 8 hours

crickets used to be in there cage ALL THE TIME. how could they sleep with those things chirping inches from their heads all night.

and they never got any human attention. now, i bring them out every day at least for feeding time. bath time is another opportunity to bond with them.

thanks for following their progress. im glad you like them as much as me  .

diamc, i figure that cave "takes up" about 1/3 of the tank. if you think about it though, it adds an extra 100 sq. inches to the tanks surface area plus gives them a brighter basking spot above a cooler dark spot. i think its great, but im still thinking about how i could get that 100gallon over here  . can you imagine, i could seperate the tank down the middle and they would each have MORE room than they share now 8) .

i got the cactus fruit from a local produce store. they are in season right now and sometimes even the big chain stores have them. it was only 60 cents for a fruit that lasted more than a few feedings, and the "lipstick" lasted for a week  :laughing6: .

i am thinking of removing the water dish, ive never seen them drink from it and it only gives them something else to poop on/in. they actually have 3 food dishes. one is an exo-terra reptile dish while the others are ceramic soy-sauce dishes. i usually seperate different tasting foods so they can find what they like without ripping the rest apart.

thanks again, i hope you like the pics  .

here are those pics, i forgot i had a video too:

100_4700.jpg

cute pic of them basking

100_4701.jpg

good pic of the larger dragon's beard

100_4702.jpg

i love how this one sits :laughhard: ! it looks like those legs do not belong to that animal. she doesnt do it all the time, this is the first time ive been able to catch it on camera.

100_4703.jpg

hes been sliding around in circles and figure eights on top of the cave trying to rub this shed skin off

100_4705.jpg

wow, looks like you called this one barbara... he started shedding in the exact same spot as that blue discoloration on his back. guess i definitely owe you a coke now  !

here is another video of them eating veggies. they are eating so many more veggies since i brought them home from that pet store. it must be great to finally get some fresh greens along with their everyday crickets. and fruit, that is a completely new experience for them.

thanks again everyone, i appreciate all of your support. i will continue to do everything i can to make these two as comfortable as possible. of course, i will not neglect little LG! in fact, i put up some new pics and a great video on his thread  .

Stiiiiiiiilll no names? haha. I'm just kidding me 2 weeks to come up with Dave's name...sad, eh?
haha.
Man I love your new guys. The little male seems bigger to me already. I'm really thankful that not having a UVB didnt damage or disfigure them permenantely. :blob8:

Thanks for all the pictures and videos of all 3 of your guys. Little LG is one of the reasons i'm so addicted to this site! I saw your comment on the Calender thread and I can't wait to see LG in there! (you know he'll get in it!!!) Maybe cover!!!! :D

yea, ive just been calling them "the pair" . i dont know theres something just so final about picking a name. im not sure yet, i have to see what grows on me.

they seem to be doing great. the smaller of the two just finished shedding his head and back. looks like the tail and limbs are next. big girl is fat and hungry as usual, and seems to have adopted the cave as her own. her buddy doesnt seem to mind, he actually perfers the top of the cave. he usually stays awake basking, long after the big girl has fallen asleep below him.

about the calender, i hope i can get pics of all three in. i dont care about size really but i would love to see them in a calender. i have been meaning to buy a regular calender to document my dragon's progress but i think one of these calenders would be perfect for the job. i plan on buying one, even if my little guy doesnt make the cut.

thanks again :D ! i am posting some new pics, and since nobody else has responded they are just for you 8) .

fullview.jpg

i changed the setup again. this time i swapped out that small reddish tile on the cool side for a large, beautiful piece of natural stone.

newtile1.jpg

here, you can see the texture and nice sheen of the tile. there are actually little gatnets embedded into the stone.

newtile2.jpg

this is supposedly expensive stuff, i only got it because it was left over from a HUGE job my brother in law did. each tile is $15 and he layed down a couple hundred at this place  ! anyhow, one is all i needed :D . it is fairly smooth, but when i scartch it with my fingernails they catch traction easliy. it takes up a considerable amount of space but will be easy to clean off so i think it will work out.

newcarpet.jpg

heres a pic of the new extra short outdoor carpet i put in. it was only 2 dollars at walmart so even if it doesnt clean off well it wasnt a big waste of cash. you cant tell from this picture but there are patchs of the same piece of carpet in the cave and under one of the HabbaHuts too. id say its like a 70% stone/ 30% carpeted enclosure. that means i have a 70% chance at an easy cleanup job  .

newtileandcarpet.jpg

this outdoor carpet is the kind of thing you place in front of doors to wipe your feet off. it has textured rubber on the bottom so it will grip the glass of your enclosure.

together-1.jpg

here is a good pic of the two together, they are getting along alot better since i overhauled their tank a week ago. they hardly ever lay on eachother any more, about 1/4 as often and they share the space quite well.

i still plan on seperating them or, (if they cant stand being apart)getting them into a 100 gallon to share.

thanks again, hope you like the pics. i plan on updating LGs page later on. i just need to relax a little right now.

thanks i like the new tile too. i didnt have to pay for it, i got it for free so it was definitely worth it.

i havent seen them go on any of the new parts of their tank so far, they are too busy loving their extra wide basking rock  . i am alittle concerned that the female might try digging at the carpet, if she does ill have to try something else.

what do you guys think about using this?

doormat1.jpg

this is a more expensive door mat, made from sturdy rubber. it is formed to have the texture of cobbled stone and each stone is colored and slightly fuzzy like stiff felt. i am wondering what they would think if i used this for part of their tank. i have seen many different varieties of this and if they work, wold probably look great in your tank. i figure since they are meant to take the punishment of grinding your dirty shoes across them, they will be able to be scrubbed clean when soiled.

anyone who has an opinion on this, please let me know what you think  .

*EDIT* i was just looking around the internet and found something that might be perfect for bearded dragons.

http://www.americanfloormats.com/anti-microbial-floor-mats/

it is a floor mat treated with a compound that doesnt wash out or go away over time; this compound kills bacteria on contact! i am going to read more about it to see if it is harmfull to animals. wouldnt it be great to have a bedding that kills the bacteria on contact?! thats like, the exact oposite of all particle beddings. i really going to look into this technology and see what else it has to offer  .

Aw yay i love the new pictures...and new stone! That's a gorgeous tile! I'm tempted to go and buy some for Dave's tank. He's worth the money :) Right now he just has the regular earthtone slate stuff. And i like it alright, I just want something that looks a little more put together.

It's a little plain, but he likes it!

And as usual I love your pictures! The tank is looking so nice since you brought those guys home! That cobblestone met looks like it would be hard to clean if their poopy gets wedged inbetween the "stones" but maybe taking a high power hose would do the trick haha.
One of my tanks has the slate and the baby has reptile carpet and I'm definitely leaning more towards the slate. It's so much easier to clean than the carpet. It's a pain to wash, especially when you dont have clothes to wash with it! no way I'm running the washer with just that in it. haha.

Once I get her 40 gallon breeder I'lll definitely be switching her to slate tile too!

Jason-
As always we are enjoying the new picts. They look so much happier now.
I love the cobble stone look mat! :D I'm going to try to find one here for Bogie's new viv. Bogie has a regular poop spot so tile on that end and the mat on the other. Where did you find it?

Hey Jason-

I told you - you should definately add interior design and photo/videographer to your resume.... :D

What a great idea with the stone door mat - I figure, like you, if it's made for dirty shoes I'm sure it could take a good scrub. Maybe I'll buy a few so I can rotate them so I don't have to wait for it to dry. As for the other mat, I'm not sure I believe all that "never wash off" stuff....If it never washes out I would figure it's too harsh for them....wonder if they would get their claws stuck in the weave. I couldn't get a real close look at the fibers in the picture from the web-site but good idea just the same. Let us know what info you find out about it (as if you had nothing else in your life to do..... )

Take care and best wishes to "The clan".

quick question, I have a full grown box turtle in a 55L tank. I am considering introducing a juvenile male beardie. Thoughts?

nope your better off not housing them together even if it seems fine things can happen when your not around when i had my iggy Rita she and Rico were fine together in the open room but i never thought of or tried to house them togther because 1) of the many differences in habbit needs and 2) they wouldn't cohabit in the natural in that close of an enviroment either so why try it in captivity?.

hope that answers your question.

Hi Jason,

The new tile is really beautiful, and I think its more practical to clean for the vivs, but that stone mat looks great, where did you get it? I want one for my house! :laughing6: The one concern I have with putting it in a tank would be the washability. If it's not a catch-all for beardie poop, then it would be beautiful in the tanks too! As far as names, I see a Kermit and Miss Piggy quality about the relationship. I'm not a fan of keeping two dragons in the same tank, but as long as you're prepared for the possibility of eggs, they really are cute together. :love5:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
