Laurmann2000, yes they already seem to be settled in quite comfortably. i must say, these are some hearty dragons. i know it is sometimes hard to get bearded dragons accustomed to a new home. i am just so glad these guys have had no problems with the changes:
fed individually in a tub
different hot spot(on one side now)
additional lights(RS 10.0 and an extra flo. for brightness)
longer photoperiod(about 12 hours)
somewhat noisier nights(they live in my room)
completely different decor(took out their only log and replaced it with two X-Large HabbaHuts, a stone slab on the cool side and a stone cave/basking spot)
completely different substrate(from sand to stone tile and outdoor carpet)
and i handle them infinitely more than when they were at the store
like i said, im just happy that they are happy .
sara, i agree, the difference is already noticable. they seem more active and appear more healthy. the background came with the display tank. they sell it by the foot at most petstores in my area. im glad you like it, i hope they do as much as everyone here  . thank you, and tell your son LG and I said hello  , i hope you enjoy these new pics.
mummybear, twice a day i inspect and clean out their cage. they get fresh mixed greens and crickets everyday and i try to give them baths a few times a week. id say they have it pretty good compared to their prior living conditions:
poop cleaned out almost never
lettuceonce or twice a week
basking spot in the center of the tank
no UV
photoperiod of 8 hours
crickets used to be in there cage ALL THE TIME. how could they sleep with those things chirping inches from their heads all night.
and they never got any human attention. now, i bring them out every day at least for feeding time. bath time is another opportunity to bond with them.
thanks for following their progress. im glad you like them as much as me  .
diamc, i figure that cave "takes up" about 1/3 of the tank. if you think about it though, it adds an extra 100 sq. inches to the tanks surface area plus gives them a brighter basking spot above a cooler dark spot. i think its great, but im still thinking about how i could get that 100gallon over here  . can you imagine, i could seperate the tank down the middle and they would each have MORE room than they share now 8) .
i got the cactus fruit from a local produce store. they are in season right now and sometimes even the big chain stores have them. it was only 60 cents for a fruit that lasted more than a few feedings, and the "lipstick" lasted for a week  :laughing6: .
i am thinking of removing the water dish, ive never seen them drink from it and it only gives them something else to poop on/in. they actually have 3 food dishes. one is an exo-terra reptile dish while the others are ceramic soy-sauce dishes. i usually seperate different tasting foods so they can find what they like without ripping the rest apart.
thanks again, i hope you like the pics  .
here are those pics, i forgot i had a video too:
cute pic of them basking
good pic of the larger dragon's beard
i love how this one sits :laughhard: ! it looks like those legs do not belong to that animal. she doesnt do it all the time, this is the first time ive been able to catch it on camera.
hes been sliding around in circles and figure eights on top of the cave trying to rub this shed skin off
wow, looks like you called this one barbara... he started shedding in the exact same spot as that blue discoloration on his back. guess i definitely owe you a coke now  !
here is another video of them eating veggies. they are eating so many more veggies since i brought them home from that pet store. it must be great to finally get some fresh greens along with their everyday crickets. and fruit, that is a completely new experience for them.
thanks again everyone, i appreciate all of your support. i will continue to do everything i can to make these two as comfortable as possible. of course, i will not neglect little LG! in fact, i put up some new pics and a great video on his thread  .
