Hello all! Gonzo is now approx. 10 months old 18 inches long and 469 grams. She seems to be doing well and no real issues that I can see, she runs around and hasn't lost weight. She really has not ate but more than 3 times in 2 months. Not even vegetables or fruit. She is in her tree a lot unless she is out lying on the back of the couch looking out the window or jumping around the living room. She did eat about 20 black soldier fly larvae Sunday. Got her some Horn worms as a treat for Christmas but she wouldn't even go near it. Hasn't pooped in 2 months. Yesterday by 230 pm she was lying in the corner of her cage sleeping on her blanket. (she never sleeps there, always In her tree) This morning even after her lights came on she was barely awake but she felt cold so I put her on her basking area. I will see if she is back on her blanket when I get home from work. Since she is young would she be trying to bromate and should I keep waking her up and moving her to stay warm or just let her sleep as much as she wants.

Also, I see posts about Christmas trees. We have a live tree and it might have spiders in it because we found cobwebs around it. I have tried to keep Gonzo away from it so she doesn't get stuck in it or get poked by the branches or eat a stick or something from it. Should I let her explore or be safe and not let her go near it. Im afraid she will get in it and I wont be able to get her out. Its a big full tree.

Thanks and Merry Christmas

Our Xmas is at the height of summer , so while some people buy "real" trees , we make do with a fake metal / plastic xmas tree.

I don't think she's in brumation, just slowing down a tad with her change in hormones and maturing, she's still got another year or so of growth in her before she's an adult.
I've found my beardies tend to have become much lazier and laid back at about her ago (my two youngsters Peppa and Toothless are now 13 months old and often spend time having a siesta in their nice toasty HubbaHut caves, or pretending they are statues under their UV and basking lamps. Different story when out of the tank , they become much more animated and love trotting about exploring the house. Like I said it's the height of summer here, so it's definitely not brumation for mine, nor I suspect for your's.

We make sure there are no fake (plastic pine needles on the floor) wouldn't one of our much adored 4 legged reptilian children to eat these.
Not sure about pine needles, that were shed by the tree while on display. Probably OK if only a few pine needles eaten off the carpet.

All our reptilian children are very curious about the xmas tree and the shiny borballs.

I can't see what harm could come to being allowed to explore your tree - I'd discourage climbing (fall from a height will likely result in serious injury), and any spiders living in the tree are likely to be harmless to your beardie (who'd probably see them as 8 legged snacks) , but if they have been sprayed with poisons (definitely avoid letting her eat them).

Is she a climber ?... If so I'd keep an eye on her and not let her go very high in the tree.

I let my guys roam around in the tree if they want to. I keep an eye on them while they're in there but when they want out they tend to be good at climbing down or surfing down the outer branches which seems to work surprisingly well (aside from knocking some ornaments down once in a while). Some trees have tiny field spiders in them but they are harmless. You can just use a vacuum to pick up the cobwebs. They aren't suited to survive in the house though and tend to disappear quickly.

Ahhh the Christmas tree! Maggie LOVES playing in the Christmas tree... actually she usually runs straight to it and then falls immediately up asleep.

Thought I'd hit up the thread after experiencing Simon loving our Christmas trees. May I note both are fake trees as I am allergic to pine.

We have a bay window that both Simon and Richter love to sit on and look out the window, but for the holidays we added a miniature tree, and since then Simon cannot get enough. I take him out every day after I get home from work and if I sit on the couch he abandons me for the window where I'll usually leave him be. He has been in that mini tree at least 4 different times now, and if I don't remove him physically I think he would be content to never leave. He even sleeps in it.

Now just yesterday I set him down on the floor while waiting on my bf to get ready for dinner, and within 2 minutes of setting him down he ran and jumped into the tree, using gifts to boost him in.

He is only a little over a year old so this is his second Christmas. His first Christmas I placed him safely into the tree and he did not seem opposed, but he is completely in love with the Christmas trees this year and I assume the years to come.

I'll have to post some pics

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
