My 11 month old female, Toast, is doing me a frighten.
I believe she has been brumating for a couple of weeks. She hasn't been eating as much as she usually does and has been hiding underneath things on the cold side of her enclosure. When I take her out she's still alert and active. Twice now, I've caught her sitting her enclosure with a completely black beard - she isn't puffed up at all, though. The first time, I took her out and noticed there was a piece of cat hair in her eye. After I removed the hair, her beard was back to normal within two minutes. I assumed the hair was making her uncomfortable and caused her to black beard. The last time I couldn't find anything wrong, but again she was back to normal within two minutes. Could it have been that she just wanted out? Could it be related to her (possible?) brumation? Or could there be something more serious going on that called for a visit to the vet?
