I had success with just 3 beetles. I put them in a wheat bran substrate at room temperature. I checked every once a while to replace the potato if moldy or gone and a few weeks ago i saw little worms. Now i got a few ones the size of small mealies. In total it took around 2-3 months to get them pretty visible sized. I have them in a small tray like for a classroom organizer.
By the time i saw worms the beetles were dead. And i didnt "see" the worms. I saw the substrate moving. But if you do see worms them probably replace the substrate with clean until more are seen or the beetles die.
ok. thanks.. another question.. i have 6 adult beardies.. i have a dubia colony starting to go...so i want to also have them on supers as well.. i ordered 1000 large.. i will probably use 400 for feeding.. is about 600 good to get a LARGE colony going??
Well if you get around 400 beetles which will lay about 100 per female then you should have atleast 20000. in the end you will probably get over 10000.
Like Nesta's Mommy suggested if you haven't check this thread out yet you really should.
There's lots of good information in it. viewtopic.php?f=76&t=85334
If you morph 400 beetles you will have to start selling them as I only have 24 to 30 beetles sense the end of June an I have thousands and thousand of baby worms.
I just set Swordtail's timer for his bath and paused it so I could actually fill his soaking bowl up and he crawled over my phone and canceled the timer
Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
