Breeding Feeders?

I've been reading some posts on here about people raising their own feeders. Worms, roaches, etc. When I used to frequent Herp forums a few years ago, I heard about that, but it seemed pretty rare that someone would actually do that. On this board, it seems fairly common? How much work is involved starting it up, and how much does it cost to maintain? What all is necessary to do so? Does anyone know or know of any web pages that would have this info for me, because it is definitely something I would be interested in.
