I have a juvenile bd, we’ve had him for 6 days and im a first time owner. He’s properly heated and hydrated according to his body language and poop but when he breathes, he puffs out his chin. His beard isn’t black and he doesnt hold his chin puffed, its in a rythm.

Hes also rubbing his face on his basking rock though his color doesn’t look like hes quite ready to shed. This behavior just started happening minutes ago so I have no idea if it’s anything at all.

Hello,

It sounds like what is called "forced exhalation" which is commonly done when bearding.
They may push their beards out when getting ready to shed, also. If he is rubbing his face
& head on things then it sounds like he is going to shed those areas.
