I've read the fantastically helpful article on the home page -
and thank you for that -really helpful!
Niko is showing every sign of wanting to go to sleep -
digging in the carpet when I take her out of her viv, and looking for a dark hidey place.
and sleeping most of the time when in her viv - BUT-
how do I get her to do a pooh? She hasn't 'been' since last Friday.
I think she needs to - as she has eaten her veg and 3 or 4 large locusts every day.
Is it safe to just let her snuck herself away and trust that she will wake up and 'go'? -
If not, what can I do? I've already tried warm baths, massaging her tummy etc.
She has very erratic toilet habits at the best of times - so 6 days isnt very unusual for her.
Thanks for any advice anyone can give,
Kathy

I heard you shouldn't let them sleep with all that food in them because its just sitting in their stomachs rotting and when they wake up they'd be really sick because their not digesting anything (heard someone say that on here). Mines been doing the same thing too he hasn't went in maybe 2 and a half weeks to 3 but i feel like hes going to soon but what i was doing was a warm bath for 30-45 minutes each day and rubbing his stomach each time then when he gets out i put him under his basking spot bulb and he stays there for a few hours. Idk if it will work for you or not since it sounds like you've been doing that already, hopefully someone else comes and has some suggestions

Ah, I am currently experiencing the same issue but glad to have come with a prepared answer!

I have found that a concoction of canned pumpkin and applesauce work very well in getting your dragon to poo and get things moving through their GI tract (although my Aussie will take several days of pumpkin/applesauce to go. A normal dragon may only take 1-2 days of feeding it and will go)

I syringe feed it 1 to 2 times a day (bathing doesn't work for me either) until I see results, and then allow him to go back to sleep. My female doesn't brumate, but she LOVES it - but caution beware, as normal dragons get very watery poo if you give them too much (I gave it to her like 3 days in a row and it was horrible o_O worst smell and clean up of a bearded dragon poo in my life).

So I would probably give it to her once a day until she goes to the bathroom =)

Glad to see she is doing well otherwise Kathy!

Thank you so much for that, Glue -
Never seen canned pumpkin here,
but have to admit that it's not something I've ever looked for!

Will search the supermarkets and do my best.

Couldn't find pumpkin - but she had slithers of granny smith apple yesterday and ....
BINGO !!!! A mega whoopie !
I shall be careful of letting her have apple unless she goes too long before 'going' again.

Thanks Glue x x x x x

You two are very welcome =)

I'm still waiting for my 'surprise' from Aussie (4 days straight! jeezuz....) =/
Calypso went right away though (I gave her a bit - she hadn't gone for 4 days so I figured, why not?)!

I also wanted to point out that while feeding Calypso, I had somehow gotten a small amount of pumpkin/applesauce on a single shade from my blinds that cover the sliding glass doors out to the balcony (the vertical kind) from ALL OF THE WAY across the room, that in which I was unaware of. Anywho, after feeding her (she nearly bit off the spoon I might add. She is an AGGRESSIVE eater), she decided to hop down from the couch and investigate the living room. While cleaning up, I noticed that the blind was moving aggressively from the kitchen. Well, do you know that she found that darned droplet and was attacking it with her usual brute force trying to 'eat' it off the blind? It was so hilarious - the blind swinging back and forth while she desperately and aggressively wobbled back and forth with her tongue hanging out to try and grab it over and over again? I really wish I had a video camera...

She was almost mad at me for picking her up to move her away from the blind and back into the tank. =P (shes not too fond of being handled)

Just wanted to add that story! Thought it might make one of you giggle as it did for me =)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
