boat carpet for subsrate?????

hey everyone

just a quick one ive seen this vid on youtube:

and apparently he is using boat carpet. i can see why due to it being good for grip and easy to clean poop, and it doesn't seem like they can catch there claws in it,
the only con i can see is when they pee it would soak it up.

please tell me what you think

I would agree with you on the peeing. I own a boat and i can tell you how much it soaks up when it rains...I don't think that i would go with boat carpet....If you are wanting to line it stick with terrarium liner. boat carpet isn't any cheaper...although i would definitely go with tile. or sand if your dragon is old enough.

yeah the environment isnt great at all. but the main thing i am looking for is a good substrate ive recently been looking at lino possible combined with shelf liner just want something thats gonna give good grip and easy to maintain

Well the top awnsers are always the same and said many times:
*Slate Tile! the best way too go. easy, good looking, cheap, files the nails down. absolute #1
*Repticarpet. Needs to be cleaned regularly to minimize bacteria growth. buy two and swap them every month. They make a sand one now that looks really cool.
*Paper towls. Easy, cheap, easy, cheap.
*Sand. Don't start flaming me for this. If its done under the right circumstances it's fine. I've had BD's on them before i learned of impaction risks and nothing every happened. Adult BD's only for sand.

I've seen a couple people saying ti use the vinyl tiles, DON'T. its what i have ATM and my BD hates it. I don;t have work tomorrrow so i should go get the slate.

i have looked at slate and heard good stuff but can live food get in the cracks and gaps and doesnt it soak up the urine and stuff. thanks for the vinyl tile info though .

I'm going to use sand to fill in the gaps. I'm not sure if thats recommended though.

it will soak up the urine, but as long as you clean it regularly its all good.
