I have been dealing with a sick bd since February. He initially had an infection on his lip, after the rough go on an antibiotic he developed gout.

3 times this week he passed only Urate with no poop. He did pass small amounts of poop in between with Urate attached. His last poop was 4 days ago, they have all been very small as he is only eating slurries.

This morning he passed this Urate with a tinge of what looks to be blood. It took a minute or so for him to pass. Is it possible to be impacted and still pass Urate ?

Poor Nugget, do you know how he got the mouth infection ? Can you post pics of his mouth [ when it was sore ] as well as a full body pic of him ? It's not likely at all that he's impacted since he's been slurries eating lately and he actually had a regular poo before this. You could expect some difference in his poo being fed a soft diet now. That actually would make me think of an infertile egg if it weren't misshapen. BTW, are you positive he's a male ?

Well when we first brought him home he had what we thought was a sperm plug so I never bothered to actually look.. but now looking at the picture I’m maybe second guessing ?

He was hardly fed anything other than the occasional cricket or red pepper for 4 years up until I got him in November. As soon as we introduced a proper diet he was a great eater - licked his salad clean daily! Soon after, he began to shed. When trying to rub the scales off his lips it cut and got infected.. the inside of his mouth was always fine. Vet figures his immune system just wasn’t prepared for the shed due to his neglect. He was on antibiotics from Feb 25-March 10. His appetite was already decreasing with the infection but completely stopped during antibiotic treatment. A few days after his course was over, he ate ALOT of bugs.. which I guess is what caused the gout issue he’s having now ?

If not impaction, do you think possibly pin worms ? He lost 20g while on antibiotics and then another 40g between March 10 & April 18. I assumed this was because of his hunger strike & then only eating slurries (started on March 10) . He was only eating about 8-10cc of slurrie a day but since his last weigh in at the vets 3 days around I have been feeding him twice a day so he gets closer to 20cc. Due to COVID restrictions my vet can’t send away his fecal

Poor guy, has the lip healed up ? And wow, that's a serious swelling on his arm. Was he on oral or injectable antibiotx ? I know injection sites can swell up . Has Tracie [ Drache613 ] helped with the gout ? How is his mobility now ? I wouldn't worry too much about the poo just yet, it's not likely anything serious. BTW, what bugs was he eating before the gout flare up ? And when you say he ate a lot, how many per day ? Along with the antibiotics a high protein diet would be the cause of the gout. Be sure to add plenty of water to the C.C syringed food.

He had one injection the rest were oral. Yes Tracie has been helping me quite a bit , I just got scared when I saw the blood & figured she wouldn’t get bank to my email for a bit where I’ve already been discussing his gout issues.

Hips lip is mostly healed , no more infection just some repairing scales , improving daily .

He was eating crickets super worms and occasional horn worm . He ate probably 20 crickets maybe 3 days before the he stopped eating again and the swelling was noticed

I watched him pass the Urate today and it seemed to be a bit of a struggle for him to get out

At nuggets check up today I told the vet about him only passing Urate and so she gave him an enema. When we got home he passed this. Still no poop and bite of blood, again he strained a bit to pass it. I have him prune baby food and a bit of olive oil yesterday but still no poop

Please no more enemas they are extremely hard on the dragon ---- it may take a day or two for the baby prunes to work --- what is his diet ? We strongly recommend only natural ways to get them to go to the bathroom --- baths unsweetened applesauce baby prunes etc ... please read this

Ugh I didn’t know that about enemas, that was the vets call. His diet is all liquid slurry due to gout. It is made with bok choy , arugula , squash , blueberries or mango depending on the day .

Is it possible for his bowels to be impacted while stil passing Urate ? This is his 4th Urate only output in a row . No feces since April 18

Yeah, those poos are likely because he's getting a semi liquid diet with no real solids. And the lump on the arm I believe is from an injection there. Is he moving around O.K. ? You suspect he has gout, are all of his limbs swollen or just the large lump on his front arm ?

The swelling is from gout , they did drain a bit from that arm last week . He can move fine when he decides to switch positions every so often or in the bath he’ll crawl around

Nugget didn’t make it ? I’m still trying to understand what happened . At the vet yesterday He had an enema & fluids which seemed to have perked him up, but again he passed small amounts of blood tinged urate. He only ate a few licks of slurries& then i gave him a bath. In the bath he got a burst of energy and tried to run - I think he was trying to poop. He slipped off the rock I use to prop him up and his head briefly went under water For less then a second . I immediately dried him off and put him on an incline in his hammock and bumped up the heat as I was scared he’s develop a URI on top of his other issues. He immediately began to vomit some brown / slurrie water . He would lay still then all of a sudden run or glass surf and then vomit. He continued to vomit throughout the night. There’s no way he ingested as much water in the tub that he spit out throughout the evening. He only had his head under the water very very briefly but he threw up so much of what looked like his slurries. Maybe he was just so backed up ? I don’t know. I held him at an incline as he vomited throughout the evening and he died in my arms. My heart is broken. I’m grateful he didn’t suffer & it happened quick. If he continued to fight the gout I’m sure he would have more miserable final days. I’ll miss him forever. Thank you everyone for all your help during his care ❤

This is how I will remember him

I'm soooo sorry for your baby. :( How very difficult that must have been for you to see. I think the enema may have perforated his intestines, that is one of the fears + reasons why we warn people against them. You just wanted to get your baby feeling better so you were just doing what you thought was best. Again, my heart goes out to you. It's obvious how much you loved your boy.

I'm so sorry Nuggetsmama, we try to warn people against vets giving enemas:
viewtopic.php?f=45&t=252267

It really is such a risky procedure for little reward, I wish vets would stop doing it unless absolutely necessary. Unfortunately, Nugget is just one of near a dozen this year alone that we've lost here recently due to enemas.

I'm so sorry for you loss, we all know how hard it is :(
That is a great way to remember him! He looks happy! He knows you loved him and tried, that's more than many creatures get a chance at.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
