Blood in stool freaking out!

This morning we put Ju in his normal window spot to enjoy the sun. It was hot enough to make him move his bowels on his pillow. When I picked it up, I noticed a small blob of blood next to it (not in his urates or really in the poop). The paper towel I used did indeed confirm blood. I called the vet (they have an exotics vet on hand) and they want $60 to do a fecal matter test. Other places want 80-100 (ridiculous... he's not a cat or a dog). I've searched high and low for an answer! I've read it could've just been strain from passing a large bm (he hasn't had any veggies for a few days as y husband and I haven't had time to get to the store); or that It's a more serious matter. He's still active, still eating, etc. But we're really worried and the cost for a FMT isn't helping. Someone please give us advice: /

Hello,

How is your dragon this morning?
Is he a little bit dehydrated?
How old is he?
Please review your tank setup with us along with the type & brand of UVB, temperatures & supplementation.
Are you giving calcium regularly?
If his urates were hard, it could have caused a little bit of blood from straining. Or blood in the stool can indicate worms or parasites also.
Can you drop off a fecal off without actually taking him in to see the vet for a vet visit?

Is he eating normally also?

Jus specs are in my signature. He was fine for a few days then it happened again this morning. Is still only little drops of blood, but obviously noticeable. To see the vest for a wellness check up will coat us 80, plus a 60 fecal matter sample. Even if we just took in the sample, we would still pay the 60 :?.

Yes he gets calcium, three days out JD the week (herp two days). We do need a bigger light and I keep telling my husband this...

I think It's because we've been giving him dubis that were probably a smidgen too big, but I'm beginning to think oral something more now.

Yes he still has an appetite, still active and bowel movements are on schedule.

Hello,

Too large of insects can cause some issues with going to the bathroom.
Maybe try getting some canned pumpkin to help out in case he was or is a little backed up & or straining.
Do you have any probiotics you could give to him to help out his tummy?

Be sure his basking temperatures are optimal for him to digest. The feeders should be smaller than the space between his eyes.
I am glad that he has a great appetite, too.

Let us know how he is doing.

So it turns out Ju had pinworms. He received his first syringe (oral) of dewormer today at the vet and will get his next one in three weeks. He did not want to open his mouth for the tech.

Hello,

That is too bad Ju had pinworms though. Most of the time, they don't like to open their mouths for medications. Which dewormer did he get?
How high were the levels then of the pinworms, did they say?
How is he doing today, still active & basking?

Keep us posted on him.

He received a really really small dose (micro grams) because of his weight. The doc gave him panacur. ). From talking to the vet he had said pin worms are common in reptiles because of their cloaca.. it's kind of an "accepted " thing. All we could do was manage the levels. I don't know how bad his levels were, only that the fecal matter test determined it quickly and it was the cause for occasional blood. Yes hes still active and full of piss and vinegar lol.

Hello,

That is great Ju is still doing really well right now!
They do normally have low levels of pinworms in their flora. It is just when the levels get too high that can affect their GI tract due to the overload.
I am happy he is doing well even with receiving the Panacur. It is a pretty safe drug overall.

Yea, he's back to hunting and stalking his dubi when he can see them. He seems to feel pretty right as rain which makes my husband and I both happy. Thank you for the support also: ), as my husband tells me I'm such a mother hen.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
