Blood....In Poop!!!

Emmalee is having her first brumation so her metabolism is very slow. She will usually poop every 14 days, but she has not been eating very well either. When not in active brumation, poop is every day or every third day.

I was assist feeding her for the last week and a half and she went poop today after 11 days. The urate looked great, white on the front end, a little darker and harder on the last end. Her poop looked better than ever and was well hydrated. A little fluid came out with the poop which was essentially clear.

I noticed she was straining a little, which she has been doing every poop since brumation started. However, I do not know if I should be concerned. After her poop she always drags her butt to get thew last squeak of water out, leaving what I can only describe as a slug trail . This is also normal for Emmalee to do. This time the last squeak contained a very small drop of blood. Could this be due to straining?

There is no noticeable swelling, or prolapsing of the vent, and there is no blood discharge or leaking from her vent, at all. Her last fecal was in September and November, the November fecal was completely clear of all protozoa and parasites.

my bd mr marv beanz also drags his butt it makes me giggle he wipes his butt and his tail arches over so not to drag it in his poop but he often then turns around and stands in it.

as for the blood im really not sure marv sometimes looks like he is realyy straining but i have never noticed any blood in stool, is it possiblr that locust leg or teeth/chewing pincers that are sharp could have givven a little scratch on the way out? i know they are quite sharp as i had to go thru marvs poop for about 6 monthsas advised by the vet after he possibly ate a small piece of plastic, sorry i cant be any more help thats all i can think it could be, are there any vets that are members on here?

Thanks for your reply, she has not eaten any live food since December 19, though...anyone else?

Diablo woke UP!

He was doing what Em has been doing....not eating, sleeping some, but not really out. You know, we talked about it.

Well I had to go pick up a rescue dog (last Friday) that was a 3 hours round trip. I stuck Diablo on a fleece blanket on the dash of my Jeep, in the sun and he got all excited....he was running back and forth on the dash, climbing on me...generally being bad.

Since that day last Friday, he has been up! Pooping daily, eating greens, gobbling super worms......it was like the trip and sun and mental stimulation made him decide it really is spring! He is actually very restless and running around all over...like he is excited its spring. He even jumped out of his cage....

Ash is still kind of sluggish, but tomorrow is supposed to be sunny, so I am going to bring him outside in the sun.

I wouldn't worry about the blood....Ash hasn't pooped now for 6 weeks....I hope tomorrow's sunshine really wakes him up.

I would suggest you take Em out in the sun when you can! It helped! Diablo had lost 30 grams by last week. I was really freaked out!
