Blondie's Pringles ~ Coco, Lexi, Crash & Psycho

So the decision was completely up to Carl, because Xena was his babygirl, and I know no-one else in the world can ever replace her... but he has always wanted to raise a baby dragon, seeing as how 3 of our 4 are rescues, and adults when we took them in...

So darn if they aren't totally like, well as fresnowitte says, P-R-I-N-G-L-E-S-!

So Carl picked out his baby... it'll take a little while to name her, we have to see her personality. Welcome into our hearts, little one... almost 14 inches / 166 grams / crazy hyper personality so far ...

As soon as we got her out of the packaging, she made a bee-line for my son's leg & pancaked out, so CJ got the first real snuggles, he's my little seatwarmer:
111210-bg02.jpg

Look at that sweet face:
111210-bg04.jpg

111210-bg05.jpg

Ooh, soft, what's this?
111210-bg06.jpg

Yum, salad... nom nom nom...
111210-bg07.jpg

Hey, lady, I cleaned my plate, can I have more?...
111210-bg08.jpg

Oh, wait, ...
um, what else was I gonna say? ...
Oh, yeah,

There's MORE!

I had to crop that first picture, look really closely...
111210-1-unwrapping.jpg

did you look really really close?
???
Really?

Barbara was worrying about finding this little guy a special home, and Carl fell in love with him/her too... so he's our "little guy/gal"... Quasi now looks huge, and Crash looks like Godzilla compared to these two!

So meet little guy / 60 grams / 11 inches ... so laid back, just watches everything going on, and eats and eats and eats (hand-fed salad today  )
111210-lg03.jpg

111210-lg04.jpg

Just a little stress going from Cali to Ohio...
111210-lg07.jpg

Bath time! This little one loves to swim already!
111210-lg08.jpg

111210-lg09.jpg

Ooh, what's this?
111210-lg10.jpg

111210-lg11.jpg

Ooh, what's up here -- slowly progressed up the branches, then just watched us and all the activity in the room for about an hour...

Lori, we told her if she was accepted in this arts program, and was willing to put the proceeds toward ground school, we'd come up with the extra. We got a deal because of her age for $495 to start ground school (no flying time yet) ... she'll make $400 for the SAE! Worth a shot to get it started, then she is willing to work hard to earn much of the other monies for flight time when she's ready for that stage. I'm reserving 50% of any quilts I sell to go toward her flying too... so I gotta get busy making more quilts LOL

That's good. I remember when my ex husband wanted to take flight classes. We paid about $100 per class and this was back in the early 80's

we got a deal for the ground school, one time cost, and she can start in Oct., and take as many refresher sessions as needed before she starts in-air training -- that air time is $100/hr, and FAA mandates 40 hours air time to get private license. Yuk, don't like to do that math, but she knows realistically we need to raise some serious moolah for it, and she's willing to work her behind off, with raking lawns, mowing lawns, walking dogs, running errands for neighbors, etc. She knows sacrifices have to be made like concerts, and extra movies, trips to TacoBell etc. We'll see how badly she wants it -- she wants to take her solo flight on her 16th birthday ... then get her PPL on 17th birthday with a qualifying flight. (again, FAA rules on ages, etc).

She's already talking Air Force pilot for a career, to get additional training in flight, CSI, forensics, etc.

I told Bill she wanted to be a Pilot, actually I told him a fighter pilot but, to me, an Air force pilot would probably be a fighter pilot. The first words out of his mouth was "wow, awesome!" One of his favorite shows is watching air dog fights. I was told that many fighter pilots like roller coasters, that's probably why I'm not one, I hate roller coasters. Any way, she has a lot of work ahead of her but if she enjoys it, it's not work.

yeah, tell Bill we think she's pretty awesome too :D (Sorry, Carlye, don't let your head swell up too big, you won't fit thru the door! LOL) She has a lot of interests, and they could all work together with being a pilot, as well as having her private pilot license helping her to achieve those future goals... so it'll be a tight squeeze if we all work hard for it, but I'd love to make this dream come true for her.

She's already seen this saying in action: "For your life's work, do something you love, and you'll not work a day in your life" ... she knows her choices may not make her super wealthy, but she's seen how being happy is way more important than being rich :D

Wow, DAwn, that is awesome that she was accepted for that programme for the summer. And flight school, good for her, she's got alot of determination, if anyone can do it Carlye can. I think it's great that she already knows what she wants in life at her age & is so willing to work for it. I'm going to try to save $ towards one of your wonderful quilts, I'd love to have one on my bed, but it will take some time, maybe by the time she's 17!
I'll send her a message on her facebook, she's a great kid, young lady? and I really admire her. Just like I admire her mother!

:) I know when my quilts start hitting the etsy store, some people might way "what???" but they don't realize that not only do I have $100 of quality fabrics into said quilt, that I also have 30-50 hours into the creation, from start to finish. My labor charges are going to be less than minimum wage for my creation, but worth every penny. More than 1/2 of that time is the final "quilting" -- the actually fancy stitching. It takes hours!

And I am making all sorts of sizes, from baby quilts, to lap quilts, to twin / full / queen size. So hopefully there will be a price range for everyone, I am pricing them as reasonably as I can, because I love making them.

The butterfly wedding quilt for my niece last summer ... I quit counting the hours invested after like 108 hours... at that point I didn't want to know anymore LOL -- I would guesstimate that I had over 140 hours into that, with the design, crewel embroidery, quilting, etc ... but her quilt is an heirloom showpiece, meant to be handed down thru the generations ... lots of love in that one, so its priceless :D

Wow, Dawn, your quilts are about like the signs Bill used to do. They take a lot of time and there is no market for them anymore because you can do the same thing with computers for 1/4 the price. Bill's signs were artistic. He went to college in the late 60's for commercial art, a Bachelor of fine arts. He learned how to paint signs. God taught him. Now he doesn't have the energy to work any more, especially signs. He did one recently and it took 5 or 6 times longer than it used to 30 years ago, because of his energy level. The paint of the sign he just did was about $100. Then the time he put into it was 55 hours. He is really picky with the signs, they have to be just right but he's artistic in that way.

yeah, some work for peanuts... I work for crunchy peanut butter LOL (I started my career in 1982 by painting political signs, signage for businesses, mirrors in bars, and doing calligraphy on Xmas cards for teachers... so tell Bill I feel his pain! I am a perfectionist, too, so I put way more time into my stuff than I can charge for, but, ya know, I love what I get to create, each thing is a piece of art)

You're telling me, everything you make is a work of art & worth way more than you can charge because of the time involved. I understand completely.

Lori, I"m sorry Bill doesn't have the energy, but I've known a few sign owners & they've all had to close their doors. It's sad but true, it's hard to get the $ to compensate for the time you put into your masterpieces, whether they be signs or quilts. Shows how the economy is going, too.

One day I'm going to have one of Dawn's quilts on my bed, but it may take a couple of years!

God forbid if that ever happens, I'm sure you'll still find some way to quilt and make your wonderful creations

Tell Carlye Katherine and I said- WHOO HOO! :blob5: :blob8: :blob5: :blob8: Sounds like she has a workable, but ambitious plan. It's great that ya'll are encouraging her. She's a great kid. ( Wish I could fly, eyes are too bad now.)
Katherine is already saving for a car at 16, so she can earn money to become an astronaut. Wish I had been that ambitious as a kid. (or an adult for that matter)

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
