Black beard

Hello,

I've noticed the last few days that my bearded dragon has had a black beard. She seems to be normal as always, just a black beard. She isn't puffed up and she does not have any stress marks on her belly. When I take her out of her viv, the black fades to a lighter grey. She has been eating normally. I gave her a bath today and a few days ago and it didn't seem to help any. My husband bought a new log/branch for her to bask on and that's the only recent change. Does anyone know why her beard would be black? I just hope this doesn't indicate a health problem. She has been healthy so far (three years) and still seems healthy now. Any answers/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Even though no one has replied, I don't need anyone to after today. I removed the new log this morning and she has been fine all day. No black beard. The log must have made her mad. Sheesh... attitude much?! Gotta love beardies...

We had a similar issue with a stuck we had in Draper's viv. We removed it and he was back to normal. We let him crawl on it when we had him outside of the viv for a couple of weeks. When we placed it back in the viv he was ok with it.

funny how sensitive they can be to change.. glad the blackbeard is gone......
