Black beard in the morning and running all over

I just adopted/ rescued a beardie the other week and recently right after his light comes on (7:30) his beard gets really black town to his mid stomach and tries to get out of his cage. So I get him out and he'll turn and run for his cage trying to get back in. So I'm lost. I got him back out and let him run around the living room, which he did for a bit. I'm thinking maybe this is his hunting time or like most human males in the morning just looking for a female? Just like to know if I need to do anything special as far as feeding or anything. Oh yeah he is male and somewhere between 5 and 6 years old normally just suns himself and lays around.

maybe he's not a morning dragon.

The blackening could be him trying to warm up. the running around, maybe it's just his thing, or maybe he wants to be fed first thing in the morning.
