Bella laying AGAIN! HELP!

So she started getting antsy a few days ago, and is now in the box laying as I write. :roll: She just laid 34 eggs at the end of march! Is it common for a female to lay every 2-3 weeks or is she a freak??? How can I make her stop?? :lol:

They are infertile, of course.

She may lay 2 to 4 clutches of eggs from a single breeding.

So she was not with a male for breeding? Did she go through a brumation period over the winter? Not sure if the clutch numbers are the same if she has not been introduced to a male for breeding or brumated. Could still be 3 to 4 clutches. They will be within a month of each other usually. This all depends on the growth of the eggs and calcium levels. Are you feeding her super calcium pills or something? 34 eggs is alot. My female gave 12 eggs in first clutch and 16 in second clutch within about 3-4 weeks of each other. This is her first year for breeding and egg laying.

They are not fertile and she did not brumate. She just laid 22 eggs and there was definitely less than a month between. Her last batch was laid around march 31st, and this is, what, the 17th of April??? :shock:

My beardies are very well fed. They go through about two cups of salad a day plus 10+ bugs every other day EACH under normal circumstances, and I increased that to every day last time she started digging. I don't overdo the supplements. I give her liquid cal. when I remember, about once a week to every ten days or so, and they get dust on their salad about three times a week I guess. But they get at least three or more of the approved greens (collareds, mustard, turnip, endive, radicchio, bok choy, dandelion, escarole) every day plus small bird pellets as topping.

You think its the megaray? :? Is there a drug for excessive egg production, or is this excessive? Maybe if she has to lay 3-4 clutches, she just wants to get it all over with? :lol:

Oh dear!!! My Bella laid 26 eggs a day before Easter this year, I feel your frustration! I hope to god my Bella doesn't lay again. Drives me insane!!!! lol. Must be the name haha

My wanda goes 17 days between clutches like clockwork...shes due again this saturday!! cant even feel the eggs yet, but they always come. I thought this was strange...they average 21 days...glad to know shes not the only super breeder!

Amy, take away! I could use that info, too! I have a friend who breeds beardies and she says she has never known a beardie to lay as many infertile eggs and sets as Bella has, and I am sorry to say that she appears to be brooding again! :roll: Fortunately, she is stupid healthy! :wink:

She has laid two sets and is working on the sand again. :| Plus Trixie dug a hole of her own, so now they are both at it, and so are half my collared girls! :lol: I have learned to take this in stride. What else can you do? :lol:

Here they are. 23 this time. They are all so soft except for three! Does she need more calcium or is that just how infertile eggs are??

Oh gee sounds like they are all giving you a run your money and Bella is leading the parade!Dont worry though multiple infertile clutches can and does happen but when Summer is done she will be too so just try to ride it out at least until next year that is.
