Beardie won't eat.

My 5-6 month old beardie has recently finished his shed with no problems. This ended a few days ago. He has started refusing to eat his crickets and I haven't seen him eating any veg. I am starting to get worried about him now. Any ideas?

Will he eat anything else? Like superworms or waxworms?

When my beardie doesn't eat, I try to give him "treats"..like waxworms.

Or maybe your beardie is doing the brumation thing, he sleeping a lot??

I took him to the vet as advised and there was nothing wrong. The vet was very thourough also. I've noticed that he has started eating his veggies today. Usually he gets fed twice a day but now he'll only eat in a morning. At my local pet store they sell Morio worms. Are these worth a shot?

Morio worms... Sorry but I've never heard of them. I would try looking them up and see what it says about them.

Is he stress out for any reason, like moving him or changing his lights?

(Glad to hear he is eating something though and he's technically okay!)

Thanks for the support. There has been no change in his environment at all. No light changes, no movement of his viv or anything. I'll check up on morio worms now. Thanks again.

sorry to hear about your beardie.

my beardie would stop eating once in a while. we would change his diet when he did. he seems to get bored with food.

he stopped eating crickets, so we bought reptiworms.
he stopped eating reptiworms, so we bought superworms.

right now he is between superworms and dubai roaches.

try changing his diet. i highly recommend reptiworms and/or silkworms. superworms should be fed to large dragons b/c of their hard exoskeleton.
something new might catch his interest and get him to eat again. if he isn't sick he's probably just being stubborn.

My beardie seems fine besides not eating much, I thought it was because I just moved but it's been 2 weeks. Can I only get reptiworms or silkworms online? I live in Pheonix, you would think there's a store somewhere. The Petco/Smarts don't have them, and I even went to an exotic pet store.

the hornworms grow super fast, but they are very soft.

and they usually get stressed out if you move them. it can take a few weeks for them to get used to it

(Sorry to take over this thread..)

I talked to a reptile guy while calling stores in my area, he told me that Buddy is probably in the middle of brumation. I heard of it but never experienced it. He told me to not waste my money on the special worms yet until Buddy gets more active (summer). He said it might take up to 6-8weeks!! He said that since Buddy is still eating few worms every so often and going back to bed he's fine since he isn't "basking the food away". He seemed to know what he was talking about. I get worried easily! He told me to keep the tank warm, check on him every now and then and offer food whenever but don't be surprised if he doesn't eat.

Should I listen to him? Buddy was sleeping more and not eating as much before I moved.. I got him in July from petsmart...

(I post my own thread all the time, not a lot of people respond... I just look at other posts that are similiar)

If he is a reptile expert, sure. The brumations should be ending around this time I think, unless It's still cold by you.

Make sure your beardie is hydrated. Do you give him a bath 2-3 Times a week?

Well I live in Pheonix, its pretty warm.. like 80s.
Idk if he was an expert, it was a exotic pet store or something, he seemed to know he was talking about.

I wake him up quite a bit (I'm probably annoying him), and I give him water out of a spray bottle and he licks it up, and I wanted him to poop so I have given him 2 baths in the matter of 2weeks. He didn't poop though.. Should I still wake him up to bathe him more?
Should he be pooping?

(Last time he pooped was end of February, he hasn't eaten much.. but I can't get him to poop... I don't have sand or anything to get impacted)

Sorry I haven't replied in the past few days. I have been a bit side tracked. My little man has decided to only eat once a day for the time being. I have noticed him eating more and more veg though so I have been a little less worried about him.

I chose not to go with Morio/Super worms for obvious reasons. I'll be headed for the pet shop tomorrow I think to get some other worms. I'm not entirely sure which worms they have as they change the type of stocked worm regularly. I'm glad this post has been helpful to more than just my own uses.
