Hi everyone!
My rescue beardie, Athena, is coming on vacation with me and my friends for four days. I know the basics of traveling with beardies and I'll be bring her lights (UV, basking, and CHE) but I'm curious if anyone has any tips? Will she be okay in high elevations? I'll keep her warm, she can hang out in my shirt and under my jacket with a hand warmer.
We're staying somewhere that she's allowed so that isn't an issue.
I'm bringing:
A twenty gallon plastic tote
Hand warmers
A microwaveable hot pad
Her lights
Several soft blankets for her
Her harness
A soft, safe bag that she can be in when we go into restaurants or I'm not carrying her
Calcium supplements (I'm only bringing a bit not all of it as I have to leave it for Quinn)
Bee pollen supplements (she's on bee pollen daily right now)
Liquid calcium (she gets this daily right now)
We'll be driving about four-five hours each way with no stops and we're staying in my friends cabin for three nights. We will be doing a lot of hiking and Athena will stay at the cabin for smaller hikes (less than an hour and a half) and join us for anything longer than that (we're going one eight hour hike.. that'll be fun ?). I would leave her but I don't want my pet sitter to have to give her medicine, hand feed her, etc. There's also a chance a small dog may be coming along but he is the sweetest and he's half blind and has basically no prey drive. They'll be kept separate from each other unless I have Athena out in the main room while the dog is also there but I will try to keep them apart.
Any tips? Anything I'm missing or should take into consideration? Thanks!!
