Hi all! My dear Spyro hasn't been doing well for the past week. He's not eating, always seems to have a black beard, and seems kinda sad He's 2 and a half years old, and has always been a voracious eater, although less fond of his veggies. His diet consists of hornworms, superworms, endives, escarole, butternut squash, and the occasional fruit. His basking area is 100 in the high spot and 105 in the low spot. The cool side of his tank sits at 85 degrees F. My tank is an Exo Terra measuring 36x18x24. I use a dual fixture with a 75w Reptisun and a 50w Reptisun basking bulb. I use the 34 inch Reptisun 10.0 UVB with the corresponding 36 inch fixture.
I obtained and installed this new fixture about 2 weeks ago, and he displayed energy like he never had before! He was pooping everywhere! Predominantly urate, but still everywhere! I noticed fresh blood in his urate a couple days ago and figured it could be hydration, so I've started him on a regular bath routine every couple of days. His tail is still bulky and the fat pads on his head aren't concave. I think he may be about to shed as his hue had started to take on that typical pale shade that comes prior. I'm worried about him and hope that he doesn't have parasites. There is a Vet nearby that has at least one reptilian specialist that I know of, so I'll take him if need be. Any advice? Questions?
