Beardie losing mobility in all legs

Did you ever get an x-ray? The report from earlier you posted shared that a fall occured. The legs have showed lameness since the fall. CPK and lymphocytes elevated are signs of muscle/tissue damage, since the blood draw occured after the fall that could have been a recent change - without a prior blood test it's hard to say.

Uric acid could be lower, I know it's normal but if she is having trouble moving uric acid is the precursor to gout (uric acid crystals in the joints). This why we look for "low purine" vegetable and plants for bearded dragons. Vitamin C in the supplement you're giving her should also help reduce the uric acid. Even if it is "normal" level uric acid lower is always better for a uric acid in a blood test

Glad to see the UVB is being optimized for her!

Hello,

How is your girl doing now, has she started moving any better yet?
I'm glad that you have gotten the UVB worked out for her now, that should help a lot so she can
metabolize calcium & vitamins more efficiently.
She has not laid eggs before, correct? Her calcium is a little high which is why I was wondering.
Her uric acid is higher than I like to see. Normal levels are usually ideal at 2-4mg/dl & once they
begin to get around 8-10, uric acid crystallization can start to happen causing issues.
Have they discussed treating her for gout?

Let us know how she is doing.

She has had multiple X-rays.

I apologize…I can’t remember how I worded it in the original post…but it was not a fall. She jumped. Sorry if I said it was a fall. She did not show any signs of injury at that time. It wasn’t until several days later that she started showing signs of not being able to fully use it.

Now the swelling is in all limbs consistently. Nothing at all is working. We’ve tried everything.

We are currently treating her for gout by giving her the products from Tracie’s “Gout Ease”. It’s not working either.

We take her outside for natural sunlight and UVB. She doesn’t like to eat greens so we make her green slurries and give that to her.

She’s only had maybe 6 super worms in the past month. (She loves them!) Trying to cut down on what might be giving her gout like symptoms.

Let me know your thoughts

Dubia roaches is good for causing gout- was a uric acid test done to see if it was gout- if not you might want to have blood work done to rule it out for sure - what kind of uvb are you using in the tank?

Hello! I just had a simular siutation with my lizard moko in her back legs. According to the vet she had no issues with MBD either and on the xray moko seemed in perfect condition. They said that she was even ovulating! eventually they took another side xray and found an arthritic bone in her pelvis which was pinching at the nerves. It was hard to find. She still had sensation in her legs but seemed almost paralysed and her legs are swollen and she seemed in pain if we touched them. The vet said this can be caused by a minor injury that isnt cared for. (In her case, fights with her siblings in the pet shop before we got her. but you mentioned she had a jump i think i saw) This seems pretty simular to the few posts ive read on this thread. The vet said sometimes if the nerves are pinched too much they can lose the sensation completely. i dont know if this helped but you could ask her vet to examine the xrays for that?

Hello,

How are things going with your girl today?
You can email me, so we can review everything, to be sure it is all correct for her. The Allopurinol
sometimes takes time to start working. Do you have my email so you can send more pictures to me?
Definitely cut back on the protein for awhile if there is swelling in all limbs. When did you start the
meds for her? What other supplements are you giving & are you giving extra oral fluids daily too?
I'll try to help as much as I can!

She’s never had roaches. Yes she was tested for gout. Came back negative. And she has also had bloodwork done. Everything came back ok. And the lighting is up to par. We followed Tracies advice on that. You can read in previous posts. Do you have any other suggestions?

Did Tracie see the blood work results? No other suggestions --

The bloodwork on page one said uric acid was 8.5mg/dL
I'm not sure how long it would take uric acid to decrease in a bearded dragon with the gout care products. In humans a vitamin C treatment plan generally takes 30 days to reduce uric acid levels, length of time varies depending on how elevated the levels are and diet changes are needed to maintain lower uric acid levels.

I imagine it would take longer in a bearded dragon, plus beardies are limited in what medication options are available. Tracie would know more than I of course

You might want to post it so she can look at it- see what she thinks

Hello,

I received your email & will get back with you as soon as possible.
I forgot to ask, has she had a black beard at all? For now, I would try to keep her protein levels
as low as possible, to help with kidney function. How much oral fluids are you giving daily, along
with the allopurinol?

Yes she had had a black beard the past few days on and off. It started with her being darker over all but the past few days she’s been really dark.

The liquid that she gets is the liquid that I add to the powder in the kit. Around 2-3ml. Then whatever amount she’s getting with the slurries. I do not add water to the slurries. It’s just the juice from the greens and the small amount of molasses. She also gets a bath every other day. Sometimes daily.

Should I go back to the vet for the 8th time amd demand medication for gout even tho none of her records illustrate that?

I know I’m repeating some of what’s in my email I sent earlier this w

I am new and looking for a teen beardie. I have been doing a lot of research for about 2 years.
I'm new here but not new to dragons or snakes. Over the 7 years. I opened my heart and home to neglected. unwanted dras and snakes, some critical conditions. Then nursing them back to health and their final family home. I regularly help my reptiles vet with emergency appointments and I also provide the care in my little quenteen,
