im a new owner so this may sound bad but i was wondering if there was such a thing as a "Beardie Kennel" or a place to look after your beardie when you go on vacation? I will be able to leave her with my aunt but i was wondering what about the people who arent fortunate enough to have a baby sitter for their beardie? what do they do?

I think, in most places, there aren't any beardie kennels (correct me if I'm wrong, guys, but I haven't come across any).
So if you don't have family or friends to watch your beardie while you're gone, I guess you have two options:
1) Leave him and hope for the best (and I sincerely hope nobody does this)
2) Don't go on vacation.

Wouldn't dream of leaving Melody by herself without care. Sometimes, you can find out through your vet and see if they'll board your beardie in the meantime.

I take Melody with me when I leave for fairs and spend the night in hotels. I just make sure that the hotel lets pets in. (I don't have to pay a fee for waste removal or an extra charge.) I put a sign outside my door so that no one comes in and disturbs her while she basks and they can't complain about the crickets in the tank. (Even if they chirp.)

The easiest thing to do would be to find a friend/family member or neighbor you trust who isn't squeamish about reptiles and bugs who can stop by your house once a day while you're gone and feed your beardie. I'm lucky enough to know someone who also has a beardie so I drop my crew off with her if I'm going to be gone more than a couple days, but before I met her we had a friend check in on them. I pre-made salads so all he had to do was drop a worm in (I get hornworms for these occassions because they are way easier to deal with for people who aren't familiar with roaches/crickets) and then drop the salad in their dishes.

Hopefully that's helpful for you! I would be surprised if you didn't know at least one person who'd be willing to do the above for you :)

i dont know about your area but mine has a pet shop called incredible pets. they offer a "kennel" service to watch aany pet when the owner goes on vacation.the rates are very cheap and they take really good care of them. they are put in habitats that fit them away from other animals so they are not stressed or scared. they clean the habitats daily and are given there special diet daily. you should look into any reptiles shops in your area as they may offer this. good luck

Luckily i found a really nice boarding place. When we went to NS for the holidays we brought Spikey to that place and I think she enjoyed it.The people are VERY knowledable about reptiles and treat your Reptile like their owns. With cuddle, play time ,your feeding schedule etc. They also breed all kinds of worms and prepare a fresh & nutritious salad on a daily base :) they also go to a vet (who is about 40 min away) incase of an emergency.
They just take great care of their own & boarded reptiles & live pretty close to us :)

They take 6 or 8 $ a day + 10 cents for each insect (or you bring your own feeders) but ALL insects are only 10 cents which is pretty cheap if you consider that eg 10 butterworms cost 6$ at the local petstore.

We have a local pet store that offers boarding for all pets. They personally own reptiles. The boarding is in a different bldg.

I got a reptarium (a lightweight, portable mesh viv with a zip top) for outside basking, and if we ever need to I would feel confident in using that to travel. If you don't have room for a full viv in the car, you can put the reptarium parts in a baggie and put it together when you get there, and let your baby ride in something smaller (Richard travels in a felt-lined picnic basket). Any light will work temporarily as a basking light as long as it's in the right place, and a 24" Reptisun 10.0 tube fixture is small and easy to travel with. Box full of worms and you're good to go!

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
