Okay I have a 3 1/2 month old Het Trans Leatherback bearded. Now I feed him 3 times a day with crickets and fresh collard greens and carrots every morning. When I feed my beardie crickets he does not chase them. He will only eat them if they walk by him. He is hearty in the fact he will eat a lot as long as they pass by him. So I sit there and try to change direction of the crickets towards him. I tried feeding him in a different smaller bin and tank but he refuses to eat unless in his 40 gallon breeder. I see a lot of YOU Tube videos of other dragons and they chase the crickets all over the place. Does anyone else have a lazy eater. Mine will eat between 10-15 crickets each feeding but takes forever because I have to guide each cricket towards him.

I had a dragon just like that. He was such a bum when it came to chasing his food to the point where he didn't chase crickets much at all anymore. I used to feed him superworms every now and again after that. He wasn't big on live food, I should have insisted more though. I did not know about other live feeders back then but have you tried other live feeders? With my current dragon I give him dubia roaches, superworms, phoenix worms, and crickets. He loves all of them but perhaps your dragon just doesn't like eating crickets anymore. I have also seen on here that people feed their dragons silk worms and hornworms. Not all of those live feeders can be fed as staples though. Try a few different feeders to see if they work out better!

Here is an awesome nutrition guide if you haven't seen it yet. Perhaps it will help! http://www.beautifuldragons.com/Nutrition.html

Let us know how it goes :D

Yeah my Beardie is super lazy. He might Chase a few crickets but I.have to cripple most of them for him. He loves super worms and meal worms. Sometimes I think he's just tired of crickets. I know its good to offer them a variety. I would hate to eat the same old stuff all the time

Spike is lazy like that. He has to get really excited before he'll chase anything. He much prefers if we give him everything on his basking spot, so I make a point of giving him a few bites up there and then putting the rest of his greens and dubias down in his feed bowl. He gives me the stare until I leave the room, then he goes and eats - usually.

Both of our beardies are lazy bums! Jericho is almost 2 now, and we've been putting his crickets in the freezer to put them in a temporary coma, then we pour them in his bowl so he can eat. Tyrion, who is about 8 months now, won't chase crickets at all, will barely even eat them if they walk right in front of him. Ocassionally I can get him to eat some crickets out of the cup, but that's rare. He does eat veggies tho. I think we're gonna have to switch to worms for him. I think he's just picky.

My Norm has been like that since day one...he would sit in the corner and wait for the crickets to march around the perimeter, then snatch them as they turned the corner! I switched to dubias for a few months ago and he did the exact same thing. Luckily, it's much easier to "direct" the dubias! I ran out a few weeks ago and had to get crickets while waiting for a dubia shipment, and he actually leapt from his basking spot to chase them!

Harley completely quit eating crickets after tasting dubias. I managed to get her to eat 1 per feeding cause she is spoiled and used to eating dubias off my hand so I put a cricket there and she snags it and chows down, then realizes it was a cricket and then the dirty look comes out and the next bug she eyeballs first to make sure i'm not trying to trick her again. She will chase dubias though as she LOVES them but when she was eating crickets, she did the same thing as yours, just wait there and pick em off as they ran by. As for worms, she liked phoenix and reptiworms up until about 1.5 months ago. Now she eats them still but its only around 4 or 5. Then she stares at me till I give her dubias. He should however be eating a lot more than 30 crickets a day.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
