beardie hates me

I'm wondering why saphira, my female normal bearded dragon, puffs up whenever I touch her to let her know I'm here and want to pick her up. She doesn't mind my hand being in the terrarium and has walked over it, laid her head on my finger and has kicked my thumb and watch as if it were food. She also doesn't mind hand feeding either. I got her 3 days ago as well. Any advice?

Yea, I'd say about 5-6 months and she's 12 inches long.

Should I still keep putting my hand in the terrarium to get used to my hand? Or should I go a couple days of no handling? I held her today with my stepdads assistance and she wanted off shortly after. She scared me when she moved her beard and thought she was gonna puff up so her arrival back in her terrarium wasn't as smooth as id like it to have been.

Whilst I would have advised not to disturb her this early, if she approaches yiur hand happily and is behaving normally. I'd not over do this though and don't handle her for a bit, after a while try getting her to climb onto you with a food bribe How are you approaching her? dragons are sensitive to being approached from above (as most predetors would) so it maybe the 'letting her know you are there' is stressful.

I wouldn't worry, you have plenty of time to bond so no need to rush it.

I pet her side and sometimes her back, then I pick her up under her stomach and support her legs. She's also walked onto my hand slowly on her own and up my arm and figured it was normal if she kept trying to get off of me via my lower back. I was gonna try and reward her with phoenix worms whenever she's on me to get her to stay. She also fell asleep on me too. She hasn't flared at me since last week so I'm guessing it's good. Worst case scenario she just walks away from me and I help her into her home if she's out.

That sounds great, letting her engage on her terms with some bribery for good measure is ideal. I'd try and only handle her close of Ghe ground in case she wants to jump, but it sounds like you are getting on great.

Its been so much better, I just need to keep her on me now lol and I used poster paper to get rid of her reflection but it ended up not working.
