Beardie Eye Infection Help

Hi guys, I'm having an issue with my beardie Confucius. Three days ago I noticed that one of his eyes was kind of crusty/swollen, and he was hesitant to open it, so naturally I was super worried. Immediately I began to look up what I could do to help my baby and realized that his best option was to go to the vet. After calling around to all my local vets, there were very few that were able to treat reptiles. The few that I found were not taking on any new clients due to COVID. The closest one is about two hours away, and Confucius gets really stressed in the car so I don't want to put him through that.

Confucius is my first beardie and I was not familiar with eye infection treatment. After doing more research I was able to find some helpful information about Terramycin ointment. Thankfully one of my local tractor supply stores had it in stock so I picked it up. I applied the ointment for the first time yesterday after gently wiping off the crust with a wet q-tip. This morning his eye looked a lot better! No crust at all, and opening it just fine. I applied the Terramycin again today, but I'm still worried because the eye is still slightly swollen in comparison to his other eye. What should I do now and how long should I continue to give him the medication? I believe I caught it pretty early, but I've seen some horror stories about beardies going blind due to eye infections. If that happened to Confucius I would never forgive myself. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi there, I've used raw unpasteuurized honey in my dragon's infected eye and it worked well and very quickly. It has to be unpasteurized to have the antimicrobial properties. Mix with a tiny bit of warm water and apply very gently with a Q-tip. Get a nice glob on the end of the Q-tip to do it.
