Beardie age and weight

I just bought this bearded dragon baby, i can't tell how old he is and it's obvious part of his tail was clipped while kept with other babies. I don't know how long their tails are supposed to be right now, does it look like a lot was taken off or will he be okay? He weighs about .5 oz right now and were working on eating more because he looks thin to me. Any advice on food to gain weight, and how to tell how old he is? Does he look healthy right now?

Hi there, he looks like a reasonably healthy leatherback, probably about 8-10 weeks old. Do you know how to set him up O.K ? Lights , etc and how to feed him ?

It looks like about 2.5" of tail is gone, that won't affect him at all.

I have his setup in a 20 gallon for now I'll attach a picture, I'm working on getting the temperatures right because it doesn't go past 85 it seems like. I have an under the tank heat mat, a red heat lamp, and i had a coil uvb for him but I read those were bad so I'm about to replace it with the reptisun 10.0 tomorrow, also will it make it hotter if I use a regular light bulb in a dome fixture designed to make it hot? He eats anywhere from 10-15 crickets a day right now and enjoys kale and strawberries. Any other advice would be great or if anything is wrong!

O.K, good that you'll be getting the Reptisun 10.0 , make sure it's the long tube and not the compact.
Adding a halogen bulb for a basking bulb would be a good idea, try something around 75 watts at last.

I got the long one not compact! Thank you for the advice, you also mentioned he looks like a leatherback I wasn't told whether he was or not so what are the characteristics of it? What should I look out for as he gets older to determine if he is or not?

I can see that he is a leatherback....they have much finer scales. I raised a lot of them so I can tell, it's easy to tell once you've seen them compared to a normal scaled dragon. Here's a normal scaled baby....much bumpier + rougher scales.
