Bearded dragons like to climb up plants?

For my beardie I went and bought an expensive hide for him and a cheap dangling plant. When I came home he had climbed up the leaves and was sleeping up there at the top of the plant with his head barely visible. I've had him for three days now and he only sleeps there in the leaves he hasn't even bothered going in his cave.....

When I take my beardie outside to play in the garden he climbs up onto the rose bushes, so I guess its normal.
