Bearded dragon scales not right

Hi, I'm doing this for a friend. A few days ago she asked if I knew any veterinarians around us. I told her a few, and I also asked if everything was all right with her beardie. She told me the following, and I quote, "Some of his scales have turned blueish whitish and really soft and flimsy." She has had her beardie for 5+ years, so she knows it's not a shed, but some other sort of problem. Any ideas as to what it might be? Before anyone asks, I had asked if she could get me some pictures. When she does get me some pictures, I will post them. Anything will help, thanks.
