Bearded dragon only eating his crickets once a day.

Hello everyone. Im alittle concerned about my beardie. I know bearded dragons are supposed too eat insects at least twice a day. But my beardie only eats the one feeding of crickets. He eat about 5 crickets. And when I offer him crickets again he doesn't want them. I do leave out his veggies and his mealworms all day. Hes really good with eating his veggies and mealworms. Im just concerned with his cricket eating. Should I be so worried?

Hi. He might be getting tired of them. Also mealworms should not be fed as they have a hard shell and are hard for babies to digest. Better feeders are dubia roaches( depending on where you are) silk worms, Phoenix worms, butter worms.

Okay. Thank you very much. I will try the roaches. And with the mealworms I got them because the pet store recommended them. I had no idea they were hard for them to digest. He hasnt lost weight or anything and is very active and seems very happy. I just got alittle concerned with him not eating as many crickets as he should be. But it makes me happy too know that he will be okay.

Yeah he'll be fine. You can feed once in a while. Pet stores are notorious for giving bad information. All they care about is the money.

NEVER trust the recommendation of the store. Always question it and confirm it before you go with it. The stores will lie to you to make money.
Also, if you just recently got him, it may be reallocation stress. If its a smaller beardie, than I wouldn't worry too much about it cause he is actually eating.

What size crickets and beardie? 5 large or medium crickets is a lot more food than 5 smalls. Likewise, 5 is much more food for a neonate than a subadult etc

Medium sized crickets. And he is a juvenile. Hes doing alot better with eating them though. :) He is shedding right now so of course hes lost some appetite and is a little grumpy. But all in all. Hes doing so much better. :)

I think as long as you offer the food and some is being ingested it should be fine as long as enough nutrition is being transferred to your buddy. keep offering it and unless he continues, which could signal a type of infection or parasite, you shouldn't worry much.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
