Hi there, total Beardie newbie here (the things we do for our kids eh?!?) this is Darth (yep, the son is a Star Wars fan)

This was him when we brought him home on 17th June, such a cutey and the move didn't bother him one bit!!
I read every article, booklet and website before getting him, got a bit obsessed if I'm honest!
He was on Crix, but totally went off them a week after coming home, so moved onto Locusts, Dubias, Mealworms and Wax Worms (treat) he's a picky little sod and goes in fits and starts as to what he will and won't eat (currently turning away at Dubias, was Meal worms last week)
This is his viv (don't wanna start the sand debate, heard for and against)

He's shed twice since he's been home, this was him during his first

And this is him today, after his second

He is stunning, and getting some gorgeous colour, will his colours stay or will he dull over time??

I'm guessing we're doing something right, his weight on 27th June was 14g, today (25th June) he's 49g!! He's around the 14 week mark. He's offered fresh veggies and fruit twice a day and live food dusted with calcium Powder twice a day also. He is becoming very trusting and is such a joy to watch! I never considered myself a reptile fan, but I have to admit, I'm smitten with our little Darth
This is Luca, my son, with his new best friend

Luca loves Darth and is a very good Beardie owner, he cleans poop and bug parts up the second he sees them and every other weekend he helps me to do a full clean and disinfect of the viv!!

sounds like you have everything down to a science. I usually need to do a full clean about every week and sometimes twice a week though but my enclosure is a bit on the small size (its only 20 gal) but mine is just a baby too.

Not sure about gallons?!?
Darth's viv is 4ft wide x 2ft high x 2ft deep. Was 'told' that Beardies need length as opposed to height and that the 4ft would be good for an adult, although I can't rule out spoiling him with a bigger Vic once he's full grown ? Infact, I've already spied an L shaped one!!

Thanks for the info, will probably, most likely, definitely be getting him a bigger better viv when he's bigger, lol x
Planning on getting him some more climbing equipment for his current viv too, although I'll have to introduce him to new things slowly; I put his mealworms bowl in a different place the other day and he WAS NOT happy!!

Could you answer a question for me please.....
I was wondering if his colouring will remain as he gets older or will he dull?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
