hmmmmm this one is a toughie ... bc some dragons will jump without thinking twice, and some hesitate when they see the "over the edge" and know its a cliff! in my experience with my beardie Blue, when she was a baby she had some massive jumps, BUT babies are jumpers and runners and total spazzies ha! now that she is a year old, she's not so much a jumper. She is a great climber UP, a clumsy climber DOWN something. usually it ends up in a jump/slide down, BUT its in her viv and only a few inches or so.
if you do leave it open for him to come and go in his room as he pleases, can you put a ladder or log or ramp there for him to have support? OR do you keep it closed, just when you do go open to feed or clean, he flings himself out trying to be a super beardie?
if im right, a meter would be a almost a 3.5 foot jump ... so wow, yea that is pretty dang hefty distance!! i dont think its ever really "safe" for them to fall/jump THAT far consistently, but i could be wrong of course! i wish i could be more helpful. i dont know what kind of damage it could internally or externally. Blue has DEF had her share of jumps/tumbles, more so in the past when she was younger, but its something im always monitoring when she outside her viv. Some beardies show no fear and others hesitate. Gotta keep that watchful eye out
i hope someone can help you out much more than i did (or didnt  ) with this. *bump* GOOD LUCK!
~Em and Blue
