Is it normal that when I give me beardie a bath her beard turns black? Or is that her way of telling me she doesn’t like it? It doesn’t go away until maybe 5-10 mins of being back in her tank. Any suggestions?
Some like baths, some don’t. Mine hates baths, unless he’s dirty, you don’t need to give him a bath. A lot of people put them into the bath to poop. Mine won’t do it in his tank, so I let him out to run around, he’s got his favorite spot in the kitchen on the linoleum floor.
The black beard probably means he does not like baths. My boy Dezi hates baths, and lets me know it! He is over three years, and still hates baths, so I guess he always will. I only bathe him if he drags his tail in poo, and really needs a bath, or if he is shedding and needs the bath to make it easier to shed. Some beardies dark their beards to show high level of excitement, either happy or unhappy excitement. You can usually tell which it is by watching his over all body language. If the dark beard is accompanied by a frantic attempt to get out of the water, and a lizard frown, then he is not too happy with the whole thing! They are drama queens quite naturally.
