Basking......

Good Morning My Fellow Beardie Lovers!!! Which is the best basking bulb? Currently I use a 75W tight beam for a 36x18 enclosure. I need something with more wattage or maybe I could just up the wattage on my CHE? (I live in a basement and it is mighty cold) But I have heard you can use household bulbs? if so which kind? Also does the CHE have the same 6 month change over as the other 2 lights do? My UVB is a reptisun 10 36" hood. I just want to make sure my basking is perfect. So any information you have about basking bulbs, I would love to hear it!!

You can use spots, floods and regular household bulbs as long as your temperatures are correct. You said that you are using a ReptiSun bulb so your UV requirement is met. Now you just need to experiment with the wattages to get the correct temp. Brighter white light is best. As far as the CHE goes, there is not any type of requirement for replacing it, other than if it stops working.

I agree with Sam. U can use any kind of household bulb or basking bulb as long as the temps are accurate. Depending on how old your beardie is, will depend on what temp the basking spot should be. It's great that u have the proper UVB lighting!! :mrgreen:
