Basking Temps Exceeding 145 degrees

I have a 100 watt floodlight placed 18 inches from the basking spot and I am still hitting 145 degrees. This bulb is massive. Do they not make a smaller, less round bulb such as a compact? I have three lights in the Crossfire Viv, a Retisun 10.0, a 75 watt household bulb and the 100 Watt Flood. The temps all around are very good. 81 on the cool side. What is everyone else using for the basking bulb? I want to move my beardie in but am waiting to get the basking temps straight but just cant seem to find the right combination.

Just take out the flood and start with a 100 watt bulb for a basking spot.
you dont need 2 bulbs.

What are you taking your temps with? How far away is the bulb?

I cant imagine the neccessity for 100 watt spot lamp and a 75 watt house bulb. I say take out the spot lamp and put in a 100 watt incandescent bulb (like tom suggested) and see where that gets you. Also, if the 75 watt is being used for your cool side temps, i suggest removing it and bumping down to a 40 or so that will keep from the compound effect of heat on the basking side from the cool side.

A poster awhile back which will remain unnamed said to get a 100 flood bulb. I removed it, and am using a 100 watt house bulb. I took the second bulb out completely. So with the 100 watt bulb and the reptisun 10.0 I am now at 102 degrees in the basking spot and 81 degrees on the cool side. I am using 4 digital probes to check temps all over the viv. I seem to have it figured out now. Thx for the help.
