I just got a baby beardie named Copper.

Hi there, Copper is a cute little guy and looks pretty healthy. Can you post pics of his set up including how the lights are placed as well as list the exact type+ brand of lights you have as well as what the temps. are ? Also, what are you feeding him + how large are the insects ? Post a pic of his bugs as well. If anything needs adjustment someone here can help .

Yeah, sure. I have turf on the cool side, and on the basking side I have a ceramic heat emitter along with a heat rock on tile. He likes to sleep on the heat rock and it is the proper basking temperature. I have a Reptisun UVB 10.0 coil bulb (or at least I think that's what it is) and an All Living Things 100 Watt ceramic heat emitter. The basking side is about 107 degrees Fahrenheit and the cool side is about 77 Fahrenheit at night and 83 Fahrenheit during the day. The Reptisun is on during daylight hours, while the heat emitter stays on all the time. I read the care sheet and have been following it. I literally just got him yesterday and I'm feeding him beardie food from the pet store with vegetables and the occasional crickets. I haven't gotten crickets yet though. Anything about types of bugs?

P.S. He's a very agile climber.
P.P.S He's shedding. Anything I can do about that?

You will need to make adjustments to his lighting though, and ASAP. A CHE is O.K for night time if it gets below 65 F but beardies need a bright white heat+ basking bulb to replicate the bright sunny environment they are from. No one raises beardies successfully without a nice bright cage.

You'll also need to upgrade his uvb to a long tube like a Reptisun 10.0 or Arcadia D3 12%. They give off much better uvb, the coil/compacts are O.K at a very close distance but not really as good as the long tube.

You're welcome. And no, that compact uvb will not give off enough unless it's hanging right down near him. The screen blocks a certain amount of uvb as well.

Copper fell asleep on his heat rock at 7:00. It's so cute when he just lays there.
