Hey everyone.
Today I noticed Quinn has a swollen ankle/foot. Just her front left. It doesn't seem to be causing her pain and she's walking on it fine but I'm worried as hell because Quinn Quinn is like my child..
she is roughly 4 months old, maybe a bit younger. I've had her almost 3 months. She's got the Arcadia UVB and a basking light. Temps are 80-85 on the cool side, 90-95 on the warm side, and 100-105 on the basking spot.

She also didn't eat today. Usually she eats 20-40 BSFL and her salad. I figured it was because she's shedding but I'm not too sure now..

What do you guys think? It doesn't look too swollen in the pictures but when you compare it to the other foot...

It does look like it may be slightly swollen, but some dragons do have a chunkier leg. Can you post pics of the other leg, and also of both legs from the front ?

It does have a bit of swelling. Make sure to keep her well hydrated and if she's being fed dubia roaches be sure they eat a veggie only diet. The dubia can contain high amounts of uric acid if fed protein at all, and this can pass to your dragon and possibly cause gout. If it seems to bother her be sure to get her to an experienced reptile vet .

Okay thank you. She's feeding on Phoenix Worms right now. If it doesn't clear up I'll take her to the vet.

Hello,

It does look like there is some swelling.
As AHBD mentioned, if you feed dubias, watch the commercial feeds that you do get. Be sure
they are all organic & don't contain grain.
You could be proactive & start using some Black cherry juice extract, or powder along with some
alfalfa powder, too for a non purine source of protein.
She is a real cutie! :D

Thank you! I'll order some black cherry juice extract and I'll look into alfalfa powder. Hopefully the swelling starts going down..

I regret to inform everyone Quinn has gout. She has tophi in her mouth, so I’m 99% sure that’s what it is.
I’m looking into management plans and hopefully it remains under control. Anybody have any medication suggestions? What’s helped your Beardie with gout?

The tart cherry concentrate will help to clear the uric acid. A prescription of Allopurinol may also help control flare ups. A low protein diet may help prevent flare ups in the long run as well.

Okay, thank you. I’ll make sure she’s eating more greens and less protein!

Just curious how ur BD is doing? I have a baby BD, went to bed fine last night and woke up this morning with a right front swollen foot that he does not want to use. I am so upset. I am so fearful that it is gout because of all of the stuff I am reading on the forums. An update would be great and what you are doing to treat your BD and are you having success/results? Thank you

Hi there!
I sure hope it isn’t gout in your little one. Sadly, it’s fatal in young dragons as gout at this age is caused by defective kidneys(from improper breeding), which will lead to kidney failure.
Quinn passed about two weeks ago from kidney failure, and if she hadn’t passed I would’ve had to put her down before long.
Where did you get your little one and can you upload photos?

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
