This doesn't seem to be ER yet, but just in case he starts acting weird, wanted to see if there was anything I could do.

Puff just ate some of the straw like stuff that was sticking out of his log. I just happened to be standing in front of his viv when he starting chewing it. He got about an inch off before I could grab him. I took a pic of it. He got the thinnest part. Should I do anything? I tried to open his mouth but he was having none of that. I put him back in and he immediately went and ate some Reptiworms and is basking now. I cut the rest off of the log. I NEVER thought he would chow down on that grrrrrr.

Also, I was about to get him out and give him some greens. Should I feed him those? Maybe it would help push it through? He's a little over 8" long and 25 grams (forgot to put that in the previous post).

Sounds like a curious dragon you got there haha it shouldnt harm him too bad if he is still eating and if you feel too worried give him a warm bath and stroke his tummy and thatll help pass the straw.....seems as though hes alright.
How hard was the straw stuff?

The pieces he got are hard, thin, very dry, but somewhat flexible. Glad he got the thin part. A bath is definitely on his agenda in a few minutes.

Glad to hear it is he moving normally and basking still? AAfter his bath some lettuce could be good to get ruffage in his system and help him pass the straw :D

I let him out and was getting his bath ready and came back in and he'd pooped. I think it was today's poop though (he hadn't yet). Didn't see any straw in it. Guess I'll give him a few greens and hope it comes out tomorrow. (Fingers crossed!). Thanks for the advice :)

It shouldn't be a problem. If you're worried about impaction, you could feed him a little olive oil or applesauce if he hasn't pooped in a couple of days. Since he's small he should be pretty regular. Since it's natural and organic, I think it should be fine. Darwin once at a baby carrot about an inch and a half long and 1/4" wide whole, and he passed it without any problems. They're hardier than you'd expect. :D

That's good to hear. Wow - that's a big carrot! How big was he when he did that?

Lol 7 or 8 inches. Freaked me out, you have no clue. Poop was just a little orange the next day. I put it in there the night before, back when I was still using crickets, because I thought there was one left that day that I just couldn't find and I didn't want that little sucker to nibble on Darwin. I'm normally up and awake before he is, but he beat me that day, and next thing I know he had swallowed the carrot. I could feel it in his side, but he had no problems with it. I've switched to dubias, and finely cutting his carrots. :D

Just wanted to say thanks for the advice. Puff has pooped 3 times since he ate it and seems to be just fine. And YIKES - that was a big carrot for such a little dragon. Glad he was ok. They must be pretty hearty lol.

Well - I thought he was all good, but now I'm wondering about something else. He's been eating the small size reptiworms for the last week (after going through the extra small ones the week and a half before) and when I came home today there was normal looking poop plus a BIG poop of mostly undigested reptiworms. And he hadn't eaten near as many from his bowl as usual.

Could it possibly be his digestive juices were so concentrated on the straw stuff they left the worms undigested? He's was also a lot less active when I got him out tonight. Just sat in one spot instead of running around. He did eat several small pieces of bok choy, but no more worms. He's been basking as usual.

I'll be watching his poop the next few days. I'm hoping nothing is wrong. To add another variable to the mix, the top of his tail is also starting to shed which I know can make them not real hungry. He's lost 2 grams from yesterday (27 to 25). Any thoughts/advice? Thanks!

What is your basking temps? They need to be 100-110 F for proper digestion for babies.

Basking is always 100+. I have a digital probe in there for the reading. I'm thinking since he's still a baby maybe I need to kick it up a bit. Under 115 is ok, right? Our air conditioning is so nit picky about going off/on during the day I've been worried about turning the dial up too much on the dimmer on his basking light. I'm gone all day and don't want to cook him. My husband is home tomorrow so I may do that tomorrow while he could check it. He's never had the undigested worms in there so I was thinking (hoping) maybe it was something to do with the straw and now he's passed it in the huge worm poo.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
