another question about building a viv

i recently stumbled upon a youtube video where a guy was building a 3x2x2. he mentioned using caulk to seal the inside of the viv. is this necessary to do? and if it is, how does one make the caulk look flat? most of the pics i have seen of others builds the caulk was super chunky. i would LOVE for the one i build to look nice on the inside... oh, and he used melamine for building this...

if you mean caulking the seams along the edges or corners then yes you need to do this so it will protect the wood from moisture, the faces of the boards are water resistant but the seams is where it will seep into and begin warping. in order to smooth the beads out all you need to do is use your finger and run it along the beads. if you wish you can purchase specialty tools, but you dont really need them at all, that can give you a more professional and artistic look but all you need is your good ol finga! Aquarium grade silicone will be best for that application.

do i need to caulk the seams on the outside as well? or just the inside?

Although not necessary, it will aid if there is an accident, spilled water or condensation or just from house cleaning! gotta keep it looking good! so it wouldn't hurt.
