Am I babying my Beardie too much?

I've got a Juvie Beardie. If she doesn't see me, she looks for me and puts her little clawed paw up on the glass. To me, this is, "I want love! I want petting, taking out and petting me." I don't take her out a lot because I want her to bask. She loves to come out and explore, climb a screen for exercise.
Am I babying my beardie too much by giving her love, petting, and taking her out more than once?

I don't think so. I hold my baby for hours. I don't see him all day when at work so he has all day to bask, eat, etc. In the evening he can be cuddling with me for up to 4 hours, just sleeping soundly. I never thought I could love a lizard as much as I love him. I got Houdini shortly after having to put my male Pomeranian down and I think my love has transferred from Joey to him. It may not be healthy but I don't care, I have a lot of love to share. I'm probably making a huge mistake but I even give him little kisses. I'm sure I'm not the only person that does that. I guess I'm risking an illness but I'm curious to know if anyone has gotten sick from their beardie.

Good! I spend an hour waking her up, but she slept on me. I tried giving her some breakfast. Didn't want any except for two small pear dices and some juice from them. She licked the juice from the pears, then from my fingers, water. I put her back in her home so I could do things. I try to spend at least an hour or more paying attention to her. I've got a bird, a gerbil, and four dogs. One of them is so old, she doesn't even know where her home is.

That is not babying your beardie at all :)

My husband and I get our beardies out 6 nights out of the week. They each have an hour of time individually with us. There are times when they need their vivs cleaned out or they need a bath, so we will get them out to do those things and then get them out later when we are relaxing.

I can say I spoil my girl a lot. I give her kisses on her nose all the time and she licks my nose too. My mom keeps saying, one of these days she is gonna bite you. I don't think so. I spoil my girl so much but I get the love back.

The only real time your beardie should be in his tank is at least an hour, at the proper temps, before you feed him and at least 2 hours after to digest his food. If Goldie had her way, she would be on us 24/7. When we take them out depends on several factors, like if it's warm enough we take them outside for at least an hour of real sun, or we let them sit in the window, if it's not warm enough to open the window, we move there powersun so it's over them when they are sitting in the window, they love looking outside so we keep their tanks near the window, but that still usually isn't enough, especially for Goldie.

I take her out in the mornings to wake her up and give her exercise for a few hours. Then I give her something to eat and then leave her in there for two hours, maybe more-depends on the house's heat. I don't have central heat and air. I use ceramic heaters to heat my home. I supervise her because I've got four dogs. Three of them aren't raised around Bearded Dragons and are inside the house. Two big ones, one small, one medium. I keep her close and out of their reach. I've got a feeding ten gallon, but she ignored the crickets today because she got her staple today.
My gerbil sleeps all day until the evening hours. I've got a jealous bird named Pretty Boy. So I've got to spend time with him as well. Each animal has an hour while she's in her tank basking. I'm sure she'd follow me all over the place if it weren't for the dogs who want me to pay attention to them more than any other animal. Talk about jealousy. Allie's a Juvie. :) There's a picture of Allie under Introductions: under I'm Tracy. First time in her pool of water. :)

I do that when I have the time. We both put our girls on us, or underneath a couple of our layers when it's colder. Anyway, we do that to warm them up in the morning, then when they are warmed up, we put them back into their tanks to finish warming up.

Hello,

Absolutely not. :D They can never have too much love & attention.
People who have never owned a bearded dragon don't understand the bond that can form with a reptile/lizard. They are very sweet & the bond is somehow different than it is with a dog or cat.
I kiss our dragons all of the time, while my husband rolls his eyes. So I have not gotten ill from doing so yet so I think you are safe! :D
Ours get our daily, several times & I hold them to tuck them in their blankies, every night.

I kiss my beardie too. Sometimes I do it right on his little nosey and he sticks his tongue out at me and its so adorable. I love my beardie to death, and haven't gotten sick off of him either. He's my baby and likes to cuddle in the crook of my arm at night soemtimes. :p

I gave her first soak bath. She loved it! I had some issues with the water turning cool, not cold. I'd put her back in her home, come back with some warm water, and she soaked in there for another few minutes. I tried it again the third time, she didn't want to go soak anymore. I dried her off, but I also had in her the sun. We had two days of rain and no sun. Today's the first time I had her perched in the sun. I don't have a lot of furniture for her to sit on and I was using a ten gallon tank and top for her sit on. I'm thinking of taking her out again and putting some like paper towels and a old shirt on there.

There is no such thing as babying or spoiling a bearded dragon. As long as they have their way in all things, they are happy. Happy dragons need very little, just good food, warm temperatures, UVB, water and all the attention and love you can give them. I used to give kisses to my first beardie, Izzie, who accepted them as appropriate signs of affection. But my second, Putzy, hated it and bit me twice. Not enough to draw blood but enough to let me know he didn't like me getting in his face.

I had a pomeranian too. Her name was Lily. They are wonderful dogs. I'm sorry that you had to put yours down. I know that I still miss mine so much, and she passed away almost three years ago. My love for her has definitely transferred to Custard :) I think it's healthy. I also gave Custard a kiss... once  .

Yes, Poms are just amazing. My Joey was the best and he and Patti got me through some pretty tough times.
Here's a picture of them both, Joey is the darker one. I have this picture tattooed on my back and just got a copy blown up an hung on my livingroom wall. I still miss him a lot as well and I hope when Patti's time is up that she goes in her sleep as I never want to make that decision ever again.

I still kiss Houdini all the time, it feels nice kissing his beard.

I give Dyaln kisses all the time and have never gotten sick from him.

I baby him alot and take him for walks in the garden and cuddle him - he would much rather run around and explore - he is very independant, Morgan my female who passed away used to love cuddles and would sit on my head while i walked around doing things around the house! :) When I tried to put her back in her viv she would scurry up my arm so i would spend 30 mins trying to wrestle her into her viv. LOL

Dylan just decides when its time to go back - he will run around and explore then when its "home time" he sits at the bottom of the stand and waits for me to put him back.
I think all animals need tons of love and affection, regardless of if they have fur, scales, feathers, fins or whatever!
My sister just told me today that im crazy because I talk to Dylan and carry him around the house..... i think she is crazy for not seeing what a wonderful pet he makes! :love5:

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
