:angry5: :angry5: :angry5: :angry5: So the other night we had to stop by petco to get Boba Fett a couple days worth of crickets(since it is gonna take a couple days for the crickets to get here by mail), and I couldn't help but look into all the cages at all the reptiles. I was appalled absolutely appalled by what I found. I yelled at the ****** who were there and almost walked out without getting the crickets, if it weren't for the fact that we ran out and he needed foods! There was a dead frog in the corner of 1 cage(and it had been dead for a while...) The beardies and geckos were being fed mealworms and GIANT crickets(there were 3 that I saw in the bearded dragon cage) that were almost the same size as the babies! I was so mad!! I got my crickets and I called the general manager. I was so mad!! :angry5: :angry5: :angry5:

It's always upsetting when you realize that your pet store doesn't care for their customers future pets properly, or even care to do some proper research before putting them in stock.

I just couldn't believe it! I'm hoping its not where my baby is from, but I don't honestly know! Since my friend knew his hatch date im assuming he got him from the other petstores.. they didn't even have ANY uva/uvb bulbs and the cages were reading @ 70 degrees, it seriously made me sick! the babies were so tiny too! I just wanted to buy them all but I am limited on funds, its hard to keep 1 beardie fed lol!!

I hear so many horror stories about pet stores. Ours must be an exception. The petco close to us is always clean, the animals are healthy, they have what they need, the employees are nice and pretty decent. The only problem with them I have found is some of their crickets were dead one day when I went to buy some. Our petsmart is similar, clean, the animals are well taken care of, the employees are generally pretty knowledgeable, one of them even sent me here! I hear so many horror stories about this :( poor little critters.

The Petsmart I live close to is really clean and the workers are knowledgeable. The tanks have a maximum of three bearded dragons and they're always alert and colorful. I even count their toes! I've become a bit of a regular so they always ask about my pets and checkup on them.

Now the Petco down the street is a different story. Their tanks are crowded, especially the bearded dragons and leopard geckos with up to 10 and a large dish of mealworms and crickets that are a fourth of their size! Dirty tanks, toe and tail nips... it's really sad.

The same with the Petsmart and petco by my house. I don't even go to petco anymore. Last time I was there a liguana had its whole leg missing and bleeding. I told someone and they told me not to worry about it. I was sad so I left and I didn't go back.

Omigod, really? Poor iguana. Sometimes I wish I could buy/adopt all of the leopard geckos and beardies, but I know I financially and spatially can't. I just hope and pray a bunch of people rush in and do, but I know the tanks will get replaced with more leos and beardies.

And then sometimes they have bearded dragon care classes. Yea that would be a joke! I could teach a whole lot better. They are one of reasons why so many beardies get put on Craigslist. I have never come across one yet that is not in horrible condition. I feel so bad for them :(

Any animal from those big stores tends to be sick or have problems. I stopped buying fish. They die all the time. There is a good local owner pet store by me that has great pets. The fish are actually healthly and so are the other animal.

Luckily, my leopard gecko from Petsmart was healthy and is still healthy six months later. At the time, I was such a newbie to the world of reptiles and knew nothing about to get one, but had I known, I would've purchased a gecko from a breeder. I don't think there are any breeders near me though, which is a shame. Still, I feel grateful I received a healthy pet from Petsmart when I know it's certainly not the case for most animals from the chain pet stores.

I got daisy from Petsmart. Or course they sold me that starter kit which is a rip off but luckily the manger told me that sand is bad for them to to get carpeting instead.

Yeah, I got sold the starter kit for my leopard gecko, which wasn't too bad, but I still needed to get a lot more for her and some replacements. With my beardie, I had done so much research beforehand. My leopard gecko will reap the benefits though because once Slayer outgrows her 30 gallon tank, Godzilla gets to move in there.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
