Allergy to Dragon Scratches?

Totally random question buuut... I think I might possibly be allergic to my dragons nails. Over the last two days, anywhere his nails have gripped me have turned into itchy red welts that last 24 hours or so... it doesn't happen when I pet him, only when the nails come in contact with my skin... is this just normal or do I have an allergy?

Hmmm interesting... I have heard of people having allergic reactions to beardie scratches, but I'm not sure why it happens, but I know it doesn't happen to everyone. My beardie scratched me this morning actually, it was a little scratch but it's the first scratch I've gotten from him since I've had him. I had no reaction to it, and right now it's hard to tell there was even a scratch, it's gone away so quickly.

Just curious, what type of substrate do you have your beardie on?

Me and my daughter Amber have the same thing. Usually if their nails are sharp we try and keep the tip snipped it helps some. We use tile/non sticky shelf liner for all of ours.

I'm the same way, a little whiskey rubbed on the scratch makes it all better (I do the same thing for cat scratches cause they welt up on me too).

I have him on Zoo MedRepti-Sand, which I sift myself to get rid of any of the not so-fine grained pieces. I like it's colour and find it's easiest to clean poo out of.

Whenever Budo snuggles up on my shoulder at night, I end up with big scratches (he kicks in his sleep  ) that hang around for a few weeks. I always thought it was the bacteria (feces he walked in, roach guts, etc.) that's' surely on his nails, but I suppose an allergic reaction is not out of the question.

Hmmm... VERY good point, I could see that being the case... I mean that stuff isn't exactly what you want under your skin... He sleeps in your bed... LOVE IT! :p

I have reactions to Sierra's nails, when I took her to the vet he clipped her nails a little and it seems to be working fairly well for me.

So I filed Bruce's nails down so there weren't any more points, and NO MORE WELTS, I will just have to remember that as soon as I get welts bring out the emery board... I never noticed the welts when I had my iguana... weird.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
is tape safe for fixing something in my leopard geckos hide?
Day 3 of brumation. It's a struggle. I really miss my little guy. 😔
Mirage entered brumation yesterday, I'm gonna miss hanging out with my little guy.
