Affection breakthrough and general snappiness

I’ve had Red for a little over four months now and she’s about three or four years old. When we were hanging out in the living room today, she had pieces of shed around her eye that appeared to be bothering her. I used the softest touch to help her and she rubbed her lil face on my finger, with total trust (and sheer itchiness) so I went to my room and sobbed. She must have been so scared when her dad died, just being left all by herself. Then when we picked her up and my son had no idea how to handle a beardie so he just kind of grabbed her (not roughly or anything) and she was scared then too. I swore to myself and her that I would take care of her but never thought I would be comfortable enough to handle her much. Now, I love her so much, we hang out daily and thinking about what she’s gone through and despite being terrified she has never shown any aggression whatsoever, that I’m in my room, sobbing like a child. Just wanted to share. Thanks guys.
