Adjusting lamp timer with the seasons?

My beardie has been seen the past few days going into her hide a few times daily. Today, she went into it like she does for bed, but she went in a little sooner than usual. I'm assuming she's getting ready for bed and makes no plans for coming back out tonight. Some of you think that she may be starting to brumate, and her activity will dull down a little. Her eating habits are still good. She seems completely healthy. Everything seems okay, aside from her occasional hiding and beginning to be ready for bed sooner. She is about 5 months old. Didn't know if that's too early for them to start this kind of behavior.

Anywho...to go along with this dulled behavior, should I adjust her timer on her lamp to "shorten her day"? I currently have her timer on 12 hours day, 12 hours night. Should I slowly start shortening the time that the lamp is on to balance with the natural decreasing daylight? Or should I just leave it alone? What do you guys do?

one of my female beardies is doing the same thing. she's just 7 months , her eating has also slowed down, but i think she's too young to brumate. i really don't know the answer to your question but i'm hoping someone can give you answers and maybe it will answer some questions for me also.

Hello, first off what is your temps like in the viv? And how are you measuring them? I usually start an hour a day until its down to 8-9 hours a day! When it starts to get cold! Also 5 months is a little early to go down but then again Ive seen all kinds of weird things in those buggers!! Good luck..

My 55 gallon tank is measuring about 92-95 degrees on the basking side. I'm measuring that with a digital thermometer...one of the ones with a digital read-out with the probe at the end of a long wire that feeds into the tank.

I haven't really noticed a decrease in apetite yet. She still eats a ton. Her activity has just slowed down a little...but it usually doesn't happen until late afternoon...a few hours before "lights out".

My 7 month old, female has been acting that way too. She started eating less and is just laying around and resting her head on her basking rock at about 4pm. I think mine is starting to brumate. I'm gonna give her a big cave, rock thing that i have tomorrow. I think It's the weather where i am is also getting colder and they can sense it. I live in NJ, anyone else?

you need to get those temps up to about 105. 100 is just about minimum.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
