Hi Guys,
I lost Ziva a few months back to what was most likely adenovirus going off her pathology results. (No cross contamination between her and Spitfire. I have strict protocols)
So I sent Tracie the test for Spitfire and it came back positive.(I am talking with her about disinfection and what to do when it’s time to say good by to Spitfire but hopefully that’s years from now)
Not a huge surprise considering she is an adoption from Petsmart and they get their dragons from Sandfire (at least this location does) and the fact she was stargazing as a baby and not eating on her own. I lost a lot of sleep giving her supportive care for over two weeks before she was eating me out of house and home.
So I want to ask; as I only got to see what this virus can do right before the end of a dragons life, what am I to expect?
What do I need to look out for? Do I need to do anything different? What’s it like living with a dragon who’s positive? (She’s only 7-8 months old By the way)
I just can’t have what happened with Ziva happen to Spitfire, so I’d really enjoy any advice or anything really on what’s to come or what to expect.
I only had three years with Ziva (again rescue with unknown history.) and I’d love longer time with Spitfire than that.
Photo of Spitfire after some strawberries as a bribe to wear the dragon wings. (Yes she’s in a fully bioactive enclosure, and yes she has correct lighting/heating/ etc. I’m a tech with an interest in exotics so my babies get the best care possible)
