Is there any such thing as a beardie being overly active? My beardie is running around like a chicken with it's head cut off. i cleaned her tank today and took out a plastic plant that I had in there because she is getting to big for it and knocking it over and replaced it with a hammock. Now she cannot decide what she wants to do and is going crazy.

yes, spring fever. the weather has become warmer in the past 2 months here in minnesota. falcor was going ape-crazy for the past month & 1/2.
now that we know beardies do this, we won't be surprised come next spring. i had no clue beardies do this until reading posts on this website, and
seeing that a lot of other people were going through the same thing!

hopefully your little one calms down soon! :)

How old is your beardie? If she is the right age she could have infertile eggs.

My beardie is only about 3 months old and I have not read anywhere that they lay eggs that early. Like I said have not read anywhere  Could they lay eggs that early because that could be a lot of my problems than and I did not know. I think that weather might be it though because what you guys are saying makes a lot of since because that is how she is acting. Glass dancing, beards, does not wave but head bobs, and runs like crazy. Even took a jump off my computer desk today. Scared me to death. She is ok though.

It's driving me NUTS over here! He's tearing apart his tank decorations. I took him out to run around for an hour or two and i even gave him a long bath. But he still continues to run back and forth along all sides of the glass and scratch and run into it! I've been feeding him extra lately to make sure hes not doing it because he is hungry. He has been doing it for over a month! I've tried covering the glass on the inside and outside. He just goes over to a side that is uncovered.

The constant glass scratching noise and ripping of plastic decorations :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Mine is doing those kinds of things latly also. She has absolutly crazy the only difference is that I do not give her the decorations on the inside to rip apart but if that kind of stuff was in there I am sure she would. They all say that it is spring fever and to me that makes since. My son has also went crazy and I know that he is ok. I am figureing out that these animals are a lot more like humans than I thought possible. Just like us they feel that change in tempature and the start to get restless and want to be out and about more. my beardie is so nuts that I cannot even take her outside because i tried to take her outside the other day and she jumped off my shoulder and ran underneath the garbage. I have just figured that as long as we keep taking them out playing with them and they keep eating and staying hydrated than everything should be ok. I even call my vet center because I needed to get prices on some tests that I still need to get done for her and asked them what the hyperactivity is about and they said that it is because they notice the warm weather and get excited about it. I hope this helps and is reassuring because I was going crazy also not knowing what was going on. I thought maybe my beardie had a screw loose and just lost her mind all of a sudden

My beardie is totally the opposite. I don't even know yet if it's a he or a she! But it is the laziest lizard I have seen so far. It won't eat anything but crickets and the odd piece of kale. And the crickets have to be hand fed to him. When we first got Dragon about six months ago he would chase after his crickets but now he will only eat them if my husband feeds them to him directly. He barely ever comes out of his hide unless we take him out and he never runs around. He climbs out on his own sometimes but he just climbs up by my fountain and lays there until we put him back in his cage. Are we doing something wrong? He does like to cuddle on our chest or under a blanket but that's about it.

It's tough to know for sure. Have the temps in his tank changed from six months ago? Have you decreased the amount of light in his cage or the time the lights are on? Does he poop normally? Could he have some type of parasite?

I have found that if I let mine out for too long he will find a corner along the wall and curl up, so I wouldn't be too concerned about the lack of activity outside the cage.

The breeder I got my dragon from doesn't give her dragons a chance to hide much. She feels that they should be out basking and not hiding. If they are hiding too much she would flip over the hide log.

A lot of people here say that their dragon gets more lazy as they age. Maybe this is normal for him? I would be concerned about the lack of eating and hiding so much.

Thank you for your post! I have gotten help on all of my problems so far but your posts are greatly appreciated. I am so glad that I have found this site.
Sincerely Kim

My gal is 7 1/2 weeks old and never hides. She doesn't run around much either. She moves around laying in different spots. She's a great eater, at least crickets. She's getting better at coming out of her cage and I walk her around on my hand or arm. She had her first bath today. Didn't seem to mind it. She didn't get to swim because it was shallow but dunked her head under a couple of times. She'll be shedding real soon.

Mirage came out of brumation on April 26. He was doing great. On May 2 he started acting funny. We just redid his tank, and he keeps going into one of his hides. He just lays there. He shows no intrest in food. HELP!
